My wife and I decided to try to find this place that I read about. All I knew was that it was Peruvian food which we have never tasted. We did not find it at first so decided to try Bocca Lupo. But as we were walking toward Bocca, lo and behold we saw the Inka Grill Peruvian Cuisine. It is between Subway and Bocca Lupo. Once we went through the door, we were faced by a Llama Plushie dressed in Peruvian Garb. Our server greeted us and seated us and gave us our menus. She brought a spicy green sauce and some fried kernels. I never had them before, but they are similar to popcorn (larger) that never quite popped. They were crispy and easy to chew, but tasted like popcorn kernels. Delicious! We never had Peruvian food before, I told her I was looking at the Lomo Saltado with Rice and French fries and she gave a thumbs up. My wife ordered a 1/4 roasted chicken with Rice and fried plantains. We both had sodas. We looked around while waiting for our food, and it was a quaint place with artwork and a map of Peru on the opposite side. They had roughly 15 tables or so. The server said they had been open 12 days and that tomorrow, Saturday, 9/28/24 they would have their GRAND OPENING with a live band playing. It sounds like fun! The food arrived and we both started sampling our fare. Delicious! Not spicy, but different. My steak pieces were sautéed with tomatoes and onions and were so tender and seasoned just right. The sauce was excellent. My wife loved her 1/4 roasted chicken. I tasted it and again, it was not spicy, but it was different and really good. She ended up taking some home for lunch tomorrow. Our whole bill came to $37.75 without tip. We felt this was VERY reasonable. Get this...2 sodas cost us a TOTAL of $2.50. Try to get that price anywhere else. All in all we really enjoyed the meal. The server was excellent. The food was delicious and the price was right on point. I would highly recommend you try this place out if you are looking for something different. We certainly...
Read moreThis place is a FIND in Port Charlotte Florida. I was talking to a guy who is from Columbia I met and I asked him if he had any recommendations locally for good South American food. He instantly recommended Inka Grill. I’m sitting here at Inka as I write this…. I’m so excited about this place. I’m gonna share it instantly. First of all, my server was Rodrigo. Ask for him…he’s an incredible server!
I got the lunch special for 10.95 which comes with a bowl of chicken soup with potatoes and carrots. The chicken soup is the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant and rivals my mother‘s homemade chicken soup from when I was a kid. Absolutely delicious. The main course was called Lomo Saltado…. but instead of the steak, I had it with chicken. One of the best things I’ve had at a restaurant in the past two years. It was absolutely astounding. Chicken, tomatoes, Peruvian yellow peppers, cilantro, and onions sautéed in a mildly spicy sauce. It comes with believe it or not…. french fries AND white rice.
I’ve eaten quite a bit of South American food over the years and this place is very, very authentic and true to the cuisine. I love chimichurri sauce, so I asked them if they had some, and lo and behold. He brought me out a container of the best chimichurri I’ve had in a long time. I forgot to mention the appetizer which is complementary is corn, which comes out looking like peanuts but having the flavor of corn and they serve it with a lime green creamy chimichurri type sauce, which I did not use for the corn appetizer. I poured it over my rice and along with the chimichurri sauce for a fantastic condiment for my chicken dish. I cannot recommend this place more highly. A solid, five star restaurant in the heart of Port Charlotte, of all places. Usually you would have to go to Sarasota or Tampa to find a restaurant of this quality. If you live anywhere near Port Charlotte, run don’t walk,...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant to try something a little out of the ordinary for a family birthday dinner. Walking into the restaurant there is a small stage for live music and a very delightful South American atmosphere. We were greeted by our server promptly and seated, upon seating we found a nut that I can only describe as popcorn, but with the kernel on the outside. The menu options took a couple minutes to understand due to the names being in Spanish, but the server was quick to answer any questions we had. The service was outstandingly quick, once we ordered it took less than 10 minutes for our food to come out, we had a total of 8 people with us. I ordered the Taku Taku con Lomo, that is “rice, beens and peruvian peppers together cooked. Served with soft pieces of steak sautéed with onions, cilantro, tomatoes covered in our oriental sauce.” According to their menu. This dish was fantastic, there’s no other way I can describe it, and not too big that I have to take it home. My family and I were very impressed with this restaurant and...
