We have a 35-foot Class A motorhome with reservations for 1 night. Upon check-in, we were told there is no internet to the sites. The only internet is at the clubhouse or the privately owned sites. We agree we can live without internet for 1 night and get escorted to Site 223. Upon arrival at our site, we should have realized Silver Palms was not a good park to stay at. To get to our site, we are escorted pass the lovely lake with the beautiful water fountain and through the 'owner-sites' that are nicely landscaped. We eventually come upon an open field with no trees and no landscaping. Our site, along with all the other rental sites are in the field. They provide nothing at the site. Just a paved pad to park on. No picnic table or other type of table or chairs. Once at the site, we're told by the escort the sites also do not have cable for TV. The pictures posted here are not of Silver Palms RV Resort. The field for the renter RV's have brick pavers, not cement pads. Obviously, brick pavers are an upgrade from cement pads, but these pictures represent false advertisement. No internet and no TV hookup. WE WANT A REFUND as this is certainly not 'as advertised'. Unfortunately, their policy, as most RV parks, is no refunds for what they call an 'early check-out'. Early check-out??? We never even hooked up our motorhome!! We advise them to carefully study Hilton Head Motorcoach RV Resort as Hilton Head is LOADED with amenities, and the cost is the same as Silver Palms. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK TO SILVER PALMS AND HOPE YOU’LL LEARN FROM OUR...
Read moreI rate this 5 star Resort with a one Star! I was a workcamper here last season. I worked alongside Stephanie & Chris Matlock who was one of 4 sets of workcampers who left due to poor management. The GM Ed is a Terrible GM!!!!! He will promise you the world & says he cares but he really doesn't. Make sure you get everything in writing!! He rides the perimeter of the 90 acre Resort trying to avoid you if he can. I was there for 5 months & worked very hard for Silver Palms but Ed acted like we didn't exist. We even picked up an extra day to help when all workcampers quit on the spot & my wife & I were the only workcampers left. I was a GM for 10 years & a business owner for 16 years so I have a little experience. Ed has no people skills & should not be a GM!!! I truly loved the Resort its beautiful & 95% of the owners are wonderful but the 5% that believe they are entitled ruin it for others!!!! I was actually going to come back this winter because I truly loved the Resort & maid many wonderful friends while we were there but Ed decided to put workcampers ahead of me that showed up after we had already been there. For any of you owners that new me I was the guy who wore the cowboy hat and collected your trash & did a lot of Landscape work amongst many others duties I handled. Ed actually called one of the longest working employees & hardest working employee in the Resort in the next day after she had been in the ER the night before for a heart condition! What kind of GM does that? A none...
Read moreThe place is beautiful and has wonderful amenities. The customer service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. We have had medical issues that resulted in us needing to cancel our initial reservation. We offered to provide a physician’s note but were told that our only option was to reschedule later or we would forfeit almost $80. “No exceptions.” Our medical situation is still changing and unknown but we had some time between treatments and appointments so we were able to reschedule. On our way to the resort we received a call that if we did not arrive by 5 PM we would have to boondock outside of the resort until the next day and that there was no late check in. I told them we were almost there and hoped we would be there before 5 but it would be close. We did end up receiving a second call to let us know they would wait for us. We got there about 4:50 and got checked in. The agent on duty at our check in told us multiple times that she had only been there 9 days. There were 2 reservations in our name and she said that was not her responsibility and someone else would straighten that out. She was not paid enough for that. The gentleman that took us to our sight was very helpful and the rest of our stay was okay but there are probably some opportunities for employee training that could take place. If 5PM is a hard and fast check in time, customers need to be aware of that. We have been in our camper for 10 months and that is the first time a late check in was...
