The Sudra is an all-vegan restaurant serving Indian food with New Mexico influences located in Portland, Oregon. Owner Sanjay Chandrasekaran, who’s Indian-American, told Eater in 2019, “When I first opened the restaurant, it almost felt dishonest to do traditional Indian food. I grew up cooking with my mom, but she learned to cook after she left India. So even the way she cooks is . . . Indian, but we grew up in New Mexico, so there was always green chiles in our food. Which is awesome.” The Sudra currently has three locations: N. Mississippi, NE 28th, and Beaverton. We visited the N. Mississippi location. Here’s what we ordered — TAMARIND BEETS Served cold with tamarind chutney and soy yogurt. KALE SAAG PANEER BOWL OTA Tofu paneer simmered in kale and sunflower seed curry. LENTIL TAMARIND SOUP Lentils, carrots, red onions and yukon gold potatoes. PEACOCK SALAD Kale in tahini dressing, soy curls, ginger-agave roasted carrots, bell peppers and corn. BLACK SEED NAAN Leavened oven-baked flatbread. PLEASE NOTE: 52 Eats in 52 Weeks is not a ranked list. Restaurants and carts are listed in random order. We lived in Revere for over 3 years. Our most recent property manager Tim was very helpful with any request I had. For a large building with many tenants we were fortunate to have a good management team. We even raised our first baby in our apartment for her first 8 months. Maintenance requests were always answered quickly. Awesome amenities and the rooftop is amazing (great view of Mt Hood, St Helens and one other I can’t remember the name of). Rent felt high, but most of Portland is - reveres location alone is totally worth it. We will miss living here.

Leasing agents and maintenance crew are responsive and super nice/helpful; the complex stays pretty clean and quiet, and the staff throws community events & watch parties every once in a while. Coffee and tea for residents in the lobby, amenities are all solid so far. Rooftop views into downtown are amazing, the community is mega pet friendly, and the location is super close to anything you'd need. You're kinda right in the middle of everything without needing to go very far.

Tenant Duration: August 2020 - February 2025

I will start off by saying that i dont take to write reviews so this means a lot that im writing this.

the apartment has gone though a lot of employee turnovers and management firms. im just going to list out my pros and cons of living here but if you ask me again to live here, i would say i would have to be offered a really good deal and even then id have reservations. While the pricing is appealing, you do get what you paid for.

CONS: someone tried breaking into my apartment and even with my ring camera footage, nothing was done to help me. i had misplaced my keys in my car during a medical emergency and called the emergency maintenance number to get ahold of someone employees who live in the building so i can enter my apartment so i can get my medicine and the first time i called, they HUNG up on me after i said it was an emergency and the second time, they told me to wait eight hours for the locksmith to open my door. mind you i have two fur babies in my apartment and and it was a medical emergency. i had video and photo evidence that my parking neighbor had been denting my car and parking over the line to the point my door is blocked and i cant get out and nothing was done. i had thousands of dollars worth of work samples and packages stolen and nothing was ever done to help me. theres no cameras so beware. i had my motorcycle stolen a few times and theres only two cameras in the garage at horrendous placements so if theres cars parked, the cameras are useless and getting footage is a nightmare. Elevators are always broken, sometimes for over six months at a time. Trash chutes are always broken like every other week. Garage door is broken constantly and takes forever to repair so if you need to get in or out, good luck. Or it can just be broken and open so people can come in and steal your belongings in the storage units [ i think i counted ten wore cut at the lock or bars at one point and its all at your own risk ] Media room thats advertised as karaoke was broken for a year one time and now its just kind of useless unless you rent a machine from the office but goodbye and late night viewings in that room. Pet washroom is alright, sometimes the dryer breaks or the wash station floods but its manageable. Beware of some pet owners, they dont keep a grip on their leash or train their pets so ive had my pets attacked before. Depending where your window is, you will get nightly cannabis smoke going into your apartment. Depending on what floor your on, if you have lead foot neighbors, you will hear everything. Guest should be parked on the main road so their car doesnt get broken into.

pros: rent is affordable for a hip artsy area. Youre in the middle of everything and can get to everything within fifteen minutes tops. common room is big enough for a small party. theres a conference room that you can work thats pretty quiet. fitness area is pretty decent for the affordability of the complex. while the bouldering wall never gets attention and it only makes sense to climb horizontally but you can explore and climb it all in five minutes. apartment itself isnt bad either. i loved my layout but the cons just made me move out and i tried for a long time to...

I lived here for 2 years and there were highs and lows. Positives: Amazing rooftop view (one of the best I've seen), lots of amenities, great neighborhood and friendly staff. When the amenities worked, it was great but the time I lived there, there was not one time when everything worked. (grills, elevator, rooftop TV, fire pits, barbecues) The second summer the back elevator didn't work almost the entire time as well as the barbecues. They had umbrellas on the roof when I first moved in but replaced them with these fancy, very heavy ones, that were a PIA to roll up and down. Eventually, a wind storm blew one of them into the TV and smashed it. I always had problems with the fire pits working. Management changed over 3x in the 2 years I was there and it seemed the last crew was going to stick around. The ladies running the place (Lilly and crew) when I left seemed more on top of getting things done and creating more community events which I greatly appreciated it. Bonuses of living there was the free Peloton membership, which I was unaware of when I moved in until a neighbor told me about it. I was on that bike all the time. Also, the free coffee in the lobby. It makes a difference coz every cup adds up! It was better than your average instant crap coffee you'd get anywhere else and was told the machine cleans automatically daily and gets serviced and deep cleaned every month. Gym was a great size and even though the sauna is a nice touch, I rarely used it (and it was always dirty) They advertised a karaoke machine in the media room but the two years I was there, it was always "in the process of being replaced" and never once was there one. Also heard horrible rumors of houseless folks getting in through the back entrance and sleeping in there and using the showers in the gym. Not sure if that was actually true. I made good friends living there and one of them had their storage unit in the garage broken into twice. My apartment was small but lovely and I had a killer view of Mt Hood on clear days from my LR. I would have loved to have stayed there if I could afford it. If everything was working all the time and there weren't so many hiccups with the property and management, I would have stayed. Definitely not worth the money I was paying. I hope things have turned around since I left. I miss that rooftop...

I lived in the Revere for 3.5 years. The first year was great, and it all started to go downhill from there.

My bike (which was u-locked to a wall mount) got stolen from the locked bike room. The mount had been ripped off the wall (see photo). Also, you need a key fob to get in to the bike rooms. When I reported this, management basically said "too bad ¯(ツ)/¯" When I said I didn't feel safe using the bike rooms anymore, and if there was anything they could do, they told me that I could feel free to use any of the other bike rooms in the building.

Many of the amenities have been broken for months. At the time of writing this, the elevator that connects to the rooftop and the parking garage has been out of order for 6 months, the sauna is not maintained, the media room is locked intermittently with much of the equipment missing, and the rooftop grills are disgusting, and the fire pits did not work. The trash chutes are often broken causing the trash rooms to fill up and smell. Rock wall is decorative only.

If you want to fill out a maintenance request, the UI for the site is broken, so good luck getting your needs tended to in a timely manner.

Honestly, for the price, it is not worth the broken amenities, unhelpful staff, and cleanliness, for literally any other similar building in the Mississippi area.

Edit: for some reason Google has told me that my upload is pending for the photo of the torn up wall with the bike rack ripped from it. It didn't used to be like that, and was clearly shown. Could be a new Google feature, but...
