Colorado State Fair grounds for the general public in 2020. Unfortunately, the fair is basically canceled for the general public. There is an option to go and buy some of the food, but it is a tedious process at best and the options are severely limited.
There are only 5 vendors selling food and each had a limited selection of what they are offering. It is a drive-thru style set up and takes anywhere from 10-60 min to get through depending on congestion and how quickly the orders are being taken and food preparation. The fair entrance on Beulah Ave is where a vehicle will start. You'll enter the fair grounds, pick 1 of 3 lines where orders are being taken (you'll be in your vehicle the whole time), wait your turn (This step took us 20-25 min with only 8 cars in front of us), have your order taken, pay, and receive a ticket for each vendor you are ordering from. There are posters while you wait that have the menu items that each vendor is offering (expect normal fair food prices). You can also listen to 88.9 FM for details on how the process works. After that, you'll drive to each vendor and wait in those lines for your ticket to be taken and your food to be brought out. There is no seating available and you are expected to pick up your food and promptly exit the fair grounds.
If you love fair food and have your favorite items that you get every year, you might get lucky and be able to pick it up, however each vendors' selections have been limited to help streamline the process and you cannot add or change your order once it's been placed at the beginning. Payments can be made via cash or card, however individual vendors cannot accept payments if you want to add an item to your order - you would need to drive around and start over.
The Shave Ice vendor is the Sno Biz that is normally outside of the Agricultural Palace - the Vendor name on the signs (Vista de Sangre) where you order is who they operate under.
All in all, this was a sad experience and really made my family and I just miss the fair even more. Kudos to the vendors who are providing this service this year, however my family and I will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the worst fairs Iāve ever been to. Not only is parking not the bestā¦it was $15! You walk through the gates and there is just trash littered and that theme was kept throughout the fairgrounds. The first food place we stopped at we got a blooming onion and it was like eating a raw onion it was disgusting we ended up throwing it outā¦waste of money! We asked for ranch and they pointed at a dispenser of ranch that was just baking in the sun. When I asked the worker if they had any other ranch she said no that was it. I informed her the ranch was already hot from sitting in the sun and she said she just hadnāt had time to put the ice in the bucket yet. Mind you it was after 11am and the fair opened an hour prior. Against our better judgment we try another good place and ask for a corn dog for our son. The gentleman informed me they ran out of corn dogs last night. How do you run out of corn dogs at the STATE FAIR?! We order carne asada fries and they used a fake cheese and hardly had any meatā¦.again waste of money! All of the food items cost an arm and a leg mind you. There were hardly any vendors or food choices. There was nowhere near enough shade from the elements. The only good thing I have to say about the fair was that I visited almost all of the bathrooms (pregnant) and they were all...
Ā Ā Ā Read more0/10 would recommend going here. I attempted to call the box office on this matter, but their line will not connect you, no matter how many times you press 5 to speak to someone. My boyfriend and I went to the state fair tonight. Upon purchasing our tickets, we noticed we were charged for 5 tickets instead of 2. So we turn right around to get it resolved, the man then tells us he has to call the "boss lady" to fix his error. (Did he not realize within a second that 3 extra tickets had printed out, or was this intentional...?) Anyway, we tell her it would be easier for us to get cash for a refund, and she asks for our card instead. So no problem, she gives us the receipt stating our refund, no apologies were made at all and she didn't seem to think the situation was weird. (Again, perhaps it was intentional to overcharge people and she was well aware of this, who knows.) Now you guys have made it so there in less money in my bank account than there was supposed to be, and it could take days to go back in, which affects my finances. Whoever would like to contact me to resolve this situation, should do so asap so we don't feel so swindled by the state fair in the...
