I would like to start this off by saying that I have worked in several museums in guest relations, customer service, and docent positions. I love museums, and have visited them all over the world. I have never seen or heard of the kind of treatment we received when we attempted to visit this museum. I had heard about Rosemount from another docent at a museum I used to work at and had been wanting to visit. Since it was a two hour drive from where I live I waited over a year before finally planning the trip down on my birthday. I checked the website to make sure they would be open, and brought the flyer my friend had given me. All said the last tour left at 3:30pm, pretty standard. Since it was such a long drive down, I thought to call ahead to ensure that they were indeed open. The person who answered explained that they had a car show outside, which meant half price tours without guides, but that docents would be in each room to answer questions. It sounded great! So we made our way down and arrived a little before 2:30pm with plenty of time to see the museum. To our utter shock it was closed, but we could see people inside. We immediately called and were told that they closed early due to the special event (something that we were not informed of when we called ahead!). We explained that we had called ahead and made a long drive just to see the museum. The person on the other end just kept saying “There is nothing I can do. I don’t know who you talked to.” So we asked to talk to a supervisor, which she refused. We then asked what her position was, and she hung up on us. People visit from out of town, and come from far away to visit these historic places. If we do everything in our power to get the correct information and the staff make a mistake, the least they could do is apologize. I would caution strongly against visiting this museum, as there is no way to ensure that whatever information you get regarding their operations is correct, and the staff, or at least the person we talked to, are extremely rude!
EDIT: I had to update this review. This experience happened years ago and it was very upsetting. Honestly I would like to let it go and forget. I have also left reviews on Facebook and people who seem like they may be affiliated with the museum have started personally attacking me and harassing me over the internet which is extremely inappropriate. I would be very wary of this place and interacting with anyone...
Read moreWhile the facility itself was fantastic and truly impressive, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the way we were treated upon arrival. Our group consisted of four moms and our kids—16 people total—all of whom had purchased tickets in advance through Groupon. We carefully reviewed the website ahead of time to plan our visit, and at no point did we see any requirement to make a reservation for groups over 10.
When we arrived, the person who greeted us (Deb) seemed visibly frustrated and immediately chastised us for not making a group reservation, insisting that the website states this is required. I have since double-checked and still see no such mention. If group reservations are necessary, that should be clearly stated on the website and during the ticket purchase process.
More disappointing than the misunderstanding, however, was the unwelcoming attitude we received. Deb made it feel as though our presence was an inconvenience and spoke as if scrambling to accommodate us was a burden. As paying visitors supporting a local historical site, we expected to be met with hospitality, not frustration.
We sincerely hope this was an isolated incident, as the facility itself is well worth the visit—but a warmer welcome would have made all...
Read moreThe sad thing is there is no review. We saw an ad on the TV that said the Christmas Decorations were going to be viewed until January 2, 2018, so we went on line and looked at the web sight that said the same thing so we bought our 4 tickets on Dec. 29th and went to go see the museum. When we got there all the doors were locked and a man who works there was telling another group of people that they closed for the season on Dec. 26th and would not reopen until the first of Feb. Now The two women that were talking to the worker was very upset because they had driven all the way from the Springs to see the Christmas decor and was saying that when they bought the tickets on line it indicated that the museum was open until Jan. 2. I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism the committee that runs this place has. Pueblo already has a bad rep this kind of disregard of peoples time , effort and money is unacceptable. all the man kept saying is "well we are close come back in Feb." NOT GOOD...
