Small Interpretive Center with some live snakes to observe easy paths to walk to rocks. Why I'm giving it only 2 stars is because I stopped by on a Thursday and the gift shop was closed. I was told by the California State Park Rangers that it will be open on the weekends which was understandable now this is where I'm very frustrated because there is definitely a lack of communication and that the museum store is ran by another person that shows up when the time is right for them. So today is a Saturday at 1005, and I'm not told that the lady should be there to open it by 1100, maybe. We'll I now can't wait because I already have other things planned since I already did all the walking and looking around on Thursday and just made a special detour to get a shirt, sticker and lapel pin. The Rangers that I did interact with were very friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed my visit. Read moreArrived at the gates at 9, front gate to the entrance of the park was locked even though it said it opened at 8 on the gate.
Finally opened at 9:10, went to the interpretive center and asked about the 10am ranger program for the kids, they seemed surprised and weren’t planning to do it but said they’d put it on.
At 10am I came back and they had set some things out and gave a 2 minute talk and were done.
Tried to go to the gift shop after but were sort of harshly told they didn’t open until 11.
It’s fun to climb the rocks but I wouldn’t recommend this to any families with kids. My 2 and 4 year old had an okay time but it was mostly due to a lot of energy trying to make up for the disorganization and sort of lack of staffing at the...
Read moreAmazing place to visit and hike. Such an iconic location. But be aware that the trails or not that well marked and it's easy to go off trail, possibly an issue if you're not an experienced hiker or have physical limitations.
Be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water, even if it looks or feels like a cool day. There are few trees in the surrounding areas for shade.
