---Updates after move-out in Oct 2021--- All-in-all it was a good place to live, but I'm going to knock them down to 4 stars based on our final year there.
The apartments are paper thin above and below, you can hear conversations and every foot step. The gym is great, pool table, swimming pool, gas grills, pond, and common areas are great.
I think the pandemic hit them hard, they did some strange cost savings techniques and seemed to be relaxing the rules that make it great.
There was some management turn-over and they got rid of their maintenance staff. Ended up relying solely on one or two maintenance guys for the entire complex. They work hard, but there's just too much work.
They also got rid of the dedicated driver for the shuttle and had the maintenance guys do that too, thereby further reducing their capacity to perform maintenance tasks.
During our final year (2021) we noticed a lot of questionable new tenants starting to roll in. There started being more complaints in the community, smoking on balconies, some parties at the office/pool that went late into the night, one party had the cops show up. Not an unsafe place, but we just started noticing a downward trend.
More and more smoking and dogs showing up at the community. I like dogs and the owners all seem responsible, it's just funny that the place has a no dog policy but it doesn't seem like it.
The package handling during the pandemic was horrible. Boxes are just thrown around each building's lobby. They have package lockers but they are never used. Packages were handled by the office prior to the pandemic, that worked great.
Prior to the pandemic there were a lot of more organized events and food trucks. Hopefully this comes back!
They returned by security deposit after move-out, no issues there.
------Original review----- Lived there for about 2 years, mostly during pandemic. Great place to live, rates high on my list (I've lived in numerous apartments in 3 different states).
Front office and maintenance crew are very good. Club house and common areas are nice and well maintained. Safe quiet location for walking or socializing, lots of young professionals and small families here. I never have problems with parking and it's a short walk to the T (subway). The free shuttle is huge perk!
The complex is tucked away in a business park area, so there is a lot of spacious areas to walk with safe sidewalks away from busy streets. A busy highway interchange is nearby, but honestly it's not too noisy (except during rush hour when helicopters fly over regularly)...but on the other hand, it's a very quick on/off to the highway to get anywhere. The no dog policy is kind of nice, but it seems that almost anyone can get a waiver.
The apartments are modern but appear to be built with cheap materials (but what apartment isn't?). The balconies are nice and spacious. Our 1 bedroom apartment is a strange shape, so it can be hard to fit furniture, but we make it work. Lighting inside the unit is lacking, our apartment only has lights in the kitchen and 1 big light at the entrance/kitchen. The back corner of the main room has no lighting nor the bedroom or den, be prepared to buy lamps! Some ceiling pot lights would have been appreciated. We never hear our neighbors on the sides, but overhead is paper thin and you can hear every step and can hear conversations. Our friends share this feedback, so it's not just us.
Great place overall, we're in no...
Read moreElevation is an excellent property and enjoys a number of inherent advantages that help it to rank highly among the seven different apartments I have occupied. Completed in early 2019, the units are spacious and the wood-frame construction solid. There are tons of electrical jacks and the units are ideal for today's technologic, even post-pandemic lifestyles. The location is also ideal: with free parking, Elevation is situated on the border of the part of Boston that one accesses by train and foot and the outskirts that are best accessed by car. Those who are moving to the Boston area with a car will not feel pressure to give it up.
The following characteristics of the units should be known to prospective renters, but bear in mind that all of these things factor into an overall "excellent" rating.
Sound: the windows are very insulative, which suggests that they will hold heat in during the Massachusetts winters. Walls are good, too. However, the wood frame construction can conduct sound through the floor if your upstairs neighbor walks with heel strikes. It's no worse than any other wood frame construction, however: just know what the units are made of. The central AC / heating system is powerful, but tends to activate with many short bursts to maintain a given temperature and is rather loud. Closing the bedroom door will be sufficient for most sleepers.
Shelf and closet space: there is adequate but not plentiful closet space. As for shelving, the kitchen has ample cabinetry and the high ceilings provide more useful storage space above the cabinets. However, the bathrooms have very little cupboard space, no medicine cabinet, and not a lot in the way of places to hang a towel. An over-the-door towel rack will go a long way to fixing the problem, but I did invest in a standing vanity cabinet to get myself a medicine drawer and some bathroom pantry space.
Floor plans: the leasing agents are very helpful and will provide PDFs of each apartment. Study them carefully, as some of the units (the largest "E1" one-bedrooms making up the "elbows" of four of the six buildings around the circular complex) have an odd shape that may not be the simplest to furnish. I have an E1, and found a good way to do it, but it involves some clever placement of the TV and a bit of a woodworking project to ensure that I can do it aesthetically and without putting too much into the drywall.
Package receiving: every property will have its teething problems, and this is one for sure, but I've been assured that a better system is...
Read moreLived here 4 years. Some things to note for people looking to rent here:
PARKING* is terrible. Tenants have no option but to park on the curbs, handicap or block people in due to overcrowded parking. POOL* is only 4 ft. deep, is very busy with groups of families and little kids trashing the place. ex: leaving dirty diapers around the pool. Lots of people who don’t live there go to the pool. Lounge chairs all broken and cushions are dirty, torn and flattened. GRILLS/FIRE PITS* turn off at 10 leaving no time after sunset in summer to utilize. Tried to use 20+ times when I lived there to find them broken. Also, had multiple times when the fire went out before 10 pm (assume it ran out of propane piping is underground). POND* Dirty or dark blue from cleaning supplies. I don’t know if they still pitch “pond ice skating in the winter” when touring but I didn’t see it once in 4 years. TENNIS COURT* tough to get on from 4:30-8 since half of court is shared with basketball net so you can’t use when someone is shooting hoops. MAINTENANCE* are terrible guys. Ex: they tried to enter when I was in the shower and I yelled “get out!” To be called names. I had no AC during heat waves 2 years in a row. They were rude. I had to demand portable AC’s because my apartment was 100° for a week! My cabinet doors vinyl cover would just fall off. Vents have mold in them. They do not do routine maintenance so you can imagine how much cheap stuff was falling apart at the end. They replace everything with something cheaper - Everything is so cheap!!! Im in the medical field so I request notice the day before maintenance coming as I can’t be on certain calls with PATIENTS and they refused and hated me for this. Never notified me and basically targeted me after this. FRONT OFFICE* terrible property manager. She is extremely rude & if you report any issues with the property, you won’t get a lease reneawI tried to contact, Luke Page, VP of these properties to speak with him and he ignored us and refused to speak.
I really don’t like how they treated us at the end. I’m in the medical field and I run a business so I know what customer service is good and bad. I wouldn’t recommend based on...
