The Good: The main branch of the Thomas Crane public library is GORGEOUS both inside and out. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the Quincy Center stop and close to coffee shops and cafe's. There are literacy programs, concerts and super helpful tech people that help you connect to the free wifi! I was there one afternoon and happened to walk in on a Christmas quartet playing music for an hour. There are sections designated for silence, quiet, and conversation as well.

Read moreLove this place. Very clean and orderly...most of the time. It would be much better if it wasn't used by homeless for day-shelter! But almost every single library I have been to in and around Boston is the same way. Drinking and drugging in bathrooms and constant use tables and outlets to charge phones. That is more of an issue with the Boston area politicians sweeping it under a rug trying to ignore the issues, and putting communities at risk with dangerous individuals around other people's families and their children. They play by NIMBY rules though, so as long as it isn't in their backyard they don't care.

Read moreGreat library! They always have good events for children and are very helpful with recommendations, if you need. There is a historical (original) part in the building, to the left, that is gorgeous. You feel like you are in a museum. It has stained windows and a beautiful fireplace.
The building was built in 1881 by a famous architect Henry Hobson Richardson and is listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and U.S. National Historic Landmark.
