Great library! They always have good events for children and are very helpful with recommendations, if you need. There is a historical (original) part in the building, to the left, that is gorgeous. You feel like you are in a museum. It has stained windows and a beautiful fireplace. The building was built in 1881 by a famous architect Henry Hobson Richardson and is listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and U.S. National Historic Landmark. The landscaping design around the library is awesome and always very well taken care of.

super cute and cozy library section for kids. we always find great reads. the older librarians can be a bit snappy in how they interact with folks but besides that it’s small but big enough for kids to play and have space to read. there’s also computers which are easy to navigate, dvds, cds. the bathroom decor is super cute. there’s free parking and it’s easy to find.

Very friendly library, for the most part. Very clean including bathrooms which is amazing. Have a coffee shop and area on 1st floor for eating and special places for talking, there and upstairs. Great library!

The Good: The main branch of the Thomas Crane public library is GORGEOUS both inside and out. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the Quincy Center stop and close to coffee shops and cafe's. There are literacy programs, concerts and super helpful tech people that help you connect to the free wifi! I was there one afternoon and happened to walk in on a Christmas quartet playing music for an hour. There are sections designated for silence, quiet, and conversation as well.

The Bad:

  1. There is limited parking. The Ross Lot is right across from the library and free on nights and weekends, but there is only two-hour parking, so you'll have to take the T if you want to get work done during the day.
  2. I found the furniture to be uncomfortable. A lot of it is wood, and there are very few cushioned seats available. Reminds me a bit of my high school library.
  3. There are a TON of rules. No putting your feet on seats, no outside food or beverages other than water, no talking above a whisper in certain sections. These rules are fairly strictly enforced, so I would recommend going to a nearby Starbucks if you wanted a bit more freedom.

While there aren't too many study spaces in Quincy, this one is near the...

Love this place. Very clean and orderly...most of the time. It would be much better if it wasn't used by homeless for day-shelter! But almost every single library I have been to in and around Boston is the same way. Drinking and drugging in bathrooms and constant use tables and outlets to charge phones. That is more of an issue with the Boston area politicians sweeping it under a rug trying to ignore the issues, and putting communities at risk with dangerous individuals around other people's families and their children. They play by NIMBY rules though, so as long as it isn't in their backyard they don't care.

That aside nice place and wicked cool used bookstore open everyThursday and Saturday for a few hours which is why I gave...
