Walnut Creek Trail at Lake Johnson is one of the prettiest places in Raleigh! I love coming here when I just need some fresh air or want to go on a walk with friends. Recently, I have been bringing all my friends here to spend time together and enjoy the nice fall weather. The trail goes through the woods and around the lake, and it’s so peaceful. In the fall, it’s extra gorgeous with all the colorful leaves, and in the spring, everything is vibrant green and alive. The path is really nice and smooth, perfect for walking, running, or biking. There are a few hills, but nothing crazy. I like that there are little spots where you can stop and look out over the lake. It’s such a good place to take pictures or just sit and relax. If you go around sunset, it’s amazing. The sky reflects off the water, and it’s honestly one of the most peaceful views ever. It also feels super safe and clean, which I really appreciate. I’ve gone alone plenty of times early in the morning or in the evening and never felt uncomfortable. Plus, there are always a few people around, such as other walkers, joggers, or people walking their pets. It feels like a friendly community vibe without being crowded at all. It’s calm, beautiful, and easy to get to, which makes it perfect for a quick escape from school or work. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t been. It’s honestly a little slice of peace in the middle of Raleigh!...

Don't think it was over 6 miles tho, signage was bad , directions not very clear, on the walnut creek trail, halfway through we got to a junction that pointed to the trail one way , then get to the cross point and it does not say walnut creek trail. Would be nice to have mileage one the signs also. Overall good place , clean , well kept. Good people walking. The initial creek we had to cross over smelled a little poopy. But...
Read moreA three mile loop around the east part of Johson Lake, a paved wide two-lane trail, flat in the north and east part where it follows the lake shore, with up and down sections on the south part, farther from the water and closer to the main road which spits the lake into two parts. It takes about an hour to walk around the lake, and it is an easy walk with some uphill sections, also suitable for running or cycling (note the speed limit). Free parking, restrooms, and drinking water are available at the...
