Hey Redlanders! Are you ready for a tail-wagging good time at our beloved (and recently "remodeled") dog park? Well, leash up your expectations, because things have gotten... interesting. Remember when our dog park was a perfectly pleasant, if a bit rough around the edges, place for our furry co-pilots to stretch their legs and for us humans to catch up? Ah, those were the days! Now, it seems our civic leaders decided it was high time for an "upgrade," and by "upgrade," I mean they brought in someone who clearly thinks "swamp chic" is the next big thing in park design.
Presenting: The Redlands Riverfront Dog Park!
That's right, both sections are now perpetually pre-flooded for your dog's enjoyment. It's like a muddy wonderland, perfect for practicing those doggy paddle strokes (or just getting really, really dirty). But wait, there's more! Our bipedal and four-legged drinking fountains have been replaced with... wait for it... offertory baskets! That's right, if your pup's a thirst monger after all that splashing, you're encouraged to make a charitable donation. I hear if your offering is generous enough, the universe rewards you with humidity to quench your thirst. So thoughtful! And let's not forget the pièce de résistance of their four-month "renovation" closure: six brand-new trees! "Cool!" you might think. "Shade at last!" you might exclaim. Nope! Not a single one of these arboreal beauties is anywhere near the eight tables and benches that we taxpayers helped fund eons ago. It's like they're playing a cruel game of "find the shade. "So, if you're looking for a reliably good time with your pup, save yourself the muddy disappointment. Instead, I highly recommend a leisurely stroll around your own block. Count the cracks in the pavement, discover new potholes – you'll finish feeling far more satisfied, simply because you knew exactly what you were getting into! Don't let our tax dollars get bogged down in future "swamp chic" designs! Let's bark loud and clear for better, more functional park planning...

There are both small and large dog enclosures, with the standard double door entrances at opposite ends of each park. It's located within/next to Ford Park and a couple ponds, as well as a disc golf course, which is to say there are also lots of families and visitors right outside the dog parks as well. The only real detractor is that a decent amount of the dog parks are dirt where the grass has worn away, and can get a little wet and soft at best, and slightly muddy at worst so it's not a bad idea to bring some wipes just in case. All in all though, our...
Read moreGreat park that has a large area for small and large dogs. Benches are available although shade is minimal and usually occupied by regulars. Be prepared that some dog owners don’t monitor there dogs but usually respond if you take control of the situation. Restrooms are a walk away near the playground and there are two ponds that are utilized for fishing. Also know there are two different parking options off RedlandsBlvd through Ford Street by Starbucks and off Highland Ave.. Overall a favorite spot for my dog who is submissive and loves to play with other...
