Last night I decided to try Pizza Hut for the first time. I ordered two medium pizzas for $8.99 each, for a pre-sales tax total of $17.99. The 8.75-percent tax was $1.57, which should have made a total of $19.55. When the guy told me it was $21.02, I asked what the additional $1.47 was for and he said there was a "service charge to offset the cost of operating a business in California". So Pizza Hut is penalizing customers 8 percent (nearly doubling the tax) because they don't like how the state treats businesses. The pizza was satisfactory, but no better than Domino's, which is about $7.00 less expensive for the same thing.
