The Jazz Tribute to Luther Vandross by Peter Jordan was definitely a Valentine's Day special, although it was on 2/15/2025. It had romantic battery-operated candles massed across the front of the stage and some controlled fireworks (no actual fire) that the host informed us of prior to the beginning of the show. They also provided batter-operated fiber optic light up wands that we could wave in time with the music.
Two men, a woman, (I don't remember their names)and Lisa and Tami Wilder, daughters of Keith Wilder of Heatwave, sang backup to the headl8ner, Peter 2Saxy Jordan, who played tenor, baritone, alto, & soprano (which is difficult to play) saxes during the show. He walked through the audience while playing some of the songs The backup singers sang solos, and the band members were highlighted also. Our church's Senior Ministry members are looking forward to attending future...
Read moreFreedom Hall-Nathan Manilow Theater is another special place in the Southland for my family. My family has attended many events held there. The one event closest to my heart was the very first piano recital my then 4 and 5 year old daughters performed in. Hosted by one of Park Forest's wonderful wife and husband teams. The theater then as it is still is warm and welcoming. The staff members were very pleasant, helpful with directions, and happy to answer any questions. We the residents of the Southland can be very proud that Freedom Hall-Nathan Manilow Theater exist in our community. Thank you for the memories. Good job...

Now she has a powerhouse voice, so it's surprising to me that both my husband and I noticed the same thing. We were seated more towards the guitar player, though, so maybe if we sat more centered it would have been better. It's an intimate venue and I will definitely go back sooner...
