WARNING: FROM MANAGEMENT I LEARNED THAT ANY CONVERSATION I HAVE WITH THE STAFF MUST BE LIMITED AND SPECIFICALLY RELATING TO THE RECREATIONAL CENTER. NOT EVERYONE IS KIND; NOT EVERYONE IS INTERESTED IN HEARING WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY OR THE QUESTIONS YOU HAVE. POSITIVE VIEW: THE RECREATIONAL CENTER IS WONDERFUL DESPITE THE RULES IMPOSED UPON ME BY A CALLOUS MANAGER WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND CUSTOMER SERVICE BEING MORE THAN JUST WORDS BUT MUST BE A PERSON'S HEART WILLING TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING A MEMBER NEEDS TO SAY. A SHOUT OUT TO JUSTIN: THIS EMPLOYEE EXEMPLIFIES TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT IT'S FINEST. HE DEVELOPS A RELATIONSHIP OF TRUST WITH YOU INSTANTLY AND HE LISTENS TO OTHERS AND MAKES THEM FRIENDS, WHICH MAKES THEM WANT TO RETURN. HE MAY NOT BE THE MANAGER BUT HIS SKILLS ARE UNQUESTIONABLE! THANK YOU, JUSTIN, FOR BEING BETTER THAN A POLICY THAT EXCLUDES ITS MEMEBERS LIVING UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY SHOULD KEEP THEY'RE MOUTH SHUT AS THE MANAGER MADE IT "PERFECTLY CLEAR, UNDENIABLE, AND VICIOUSLY POLITE WHILE PUSHING YOU AWAY! I had a unique conversation with the manager in the morning about the acceptable forms of communication that one should adhere to when speaking with employees of Richardson. The rules as stated by the manager are that no employee is supposed to have any conversation that deviates from the Recreational Center's objectives to assist members with only those subjects that are applicable to the center itself. I of course breached that policy by asking questions in relations to other things that didn't involve membership policy or anything about the recreational center. In other words I didn't ask for a basketball or how to use the recreational machines. This is in violation with the policy about fraternizing with employees of Huffhines Recreational Center. Which also means that all conversations are to be halted, even if a friendship has been created. The policy is clear that we can't take from them their time at any time. You're not to speak with any of them on any subject, except if it relates to the Recreational Center! This means that becoming acquainted with the staff on a social life is strictly monitored and must be avoided. Perhaps the manager just didn't like me or perhaps he hated me for reasons discussed above. But I follow the rules and now understand my place, which is to politely say hello, scan your membership I.D. and move on. Don't Speak, Don't Ask, Don't Be Friendly! Just obey the policy and make friends with members, not the staff. PERSONALLY, I FIND THIS PLACE VERY RUDE AND THE RULES TO BE DRACONIAN IN A MANNER OF SPEAKING. I WAS TREATED UNFAIRLY BUT KNEW THAT THE MANAGER DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE ANY FURTHER COMMUNICATION WITH ME ON ANY LEVEL. SO, I COMPLIED AND WILL NOW AVOID HIM AS I WOULD AVOID THE WORST TYPE OF PERSON TO ENGAGE IN...
Read moreOur small group of people (called "Pray! Richardson") who pray together for the city of Richardson, the state, the nation, and the world, on Saturday mornings from 8:00-9:00, were graciously permitted to pray together in the Huffines room at the Rec Center. Our usual venue by the Richardson Civic Center fountain plaza was preempted by other events taking place there, so we appreciated the opportunity to pray in this Richardson location. The Huffines room is clean, very spacious for our group, and there were chairs available for us to set up for our prayer circle. (We usually bring our own chairs to the Civic Center.). Thank you to the staff who provide the chairs, allow us to use the space, and keep the rooms there...
Read moreWe recently became members to take advantage of its exercise equipment, basketball court, and small game area. The facility is very well kept including the restrooms. The only thing I have issues with is how loud and obnoxious some of the kids can be without the staff saying anything to them. I usually have my earbuds in listening to loud music and can hear them loud and clear. I'm a parent myself so I know tweens/teens can get quite excited when having fun, but there...
