Love the trails. Walked my dog Gizmo there many miles. I park at Forest Hill Park and we walk from there, cross Riverside Dr. and follow Buttermilk Trail to the 22nd St walk bridge over to the river and follow the trails to Belle Isle. We then follow the trails of Belle Isle and come back the same route. About 6 miles total. Trash along the trail and on the rocks and island - subtract two stars. Rude, aggressive mountain bikers who don’t seem to understand that the trails aren’t for their exclusive pleasure, who expect the walkers and hikers to stand aside so that they can blast their merry way through, whose tires reduce good paths to mudholes and destroy delicate root systems of the once abundant wild flowers - also cost two stars. I hope that the other walkers who often share these trails with will also file complaints. The trash is bad enough, but the selfish bikers...

The place itself is fine- the people are the issue. Does have a couple portable toilets, now that we are entering peak season, I’ll be curious as to how well those are maintained. There is the slave trail which is an educational and lovely jaunt. I think they could still do better with the parking (as in more space), and the boat ramp needs dredging, and there are massive potholes left unfilled on the southernmost part of the Y. I would appreciate some guard rails or at least some fixtures for anyone falling over the edge. Along some parts of the bank, it can...

Parking lot will practically tear your car up. Its hard to miss the deep pot holes. Not well kept at all. Very overgrown. My son and I went to fish from the bank. I worried the entire time the car would be broken into. I wouldn't trust parking a vehicle and boat trailer there. Homeless people cooking there food outside, people sleeping in there cars, traah everywhere and an overall unsafe feeling. The website said they closed at 6pm,but apparently thats when everybody shows up. We wont...

I've never been to Ancarrow's Landing, but thought since they have a few trails to check it out. Well, beside the trail along the river with glimpses of Rocketts' Landing, the only other designated trail is for bikes and not worth walking. My advice is to go in the other direction (downstream) and follow the Slave Trail. This is where it starts. With frequent pauses to read historically signs, it is well worth it. Especially, if you are not rushed and have the legs. Round trip around 7 mi.

Nice park. Both in the city but has the feel of being in nature. Nice boat ramp with history. The bank on the river here is steep. There was a lot of trash all around the park today. There are a few picnic tables and two port-a-potties. Historical trail is mulched. Has good signs with information about the history of the slave trail. There is a lot of poison ivy along the trail. Many good sized rocks placed to sit on in the park. No playground here 👍.

Cool place to visit but not for the history. We visited to check out the slave trail. Not really much to see in the way of the history of it all outside of a few posts that marked the trail and a few informational signs here and there. But the area is pretty scenic and the actual trail was fine. There is also a boat landing and lots of places for fishing 🎣..
