I really do love the natural beauty of the dry rocks. It is honestly one of my favorite spots to explore because you find something new every time you visit. However, as some have mentioned, the crowds of young adults and teens can be a bit much. The typical language, loud behavior and “various types” of smoke can be a bit odorous at times. There is also an unfortunate amount of discarded garbage and an abundance of graffiti from start to finish. I do wish the river was respected more by all users, but at this point I don’t see it changing anytime soon. I will tell you that earlier in the day during weekdays is probably your best bet for less people and activity around. As well as weekdays with heavy clouds or colder weather. The graffiti and trash seems to not be going anywhere soon. I will also say, some of the graffiti is beautiful artwork by local artists. I find a lot of it very interesting to look at… but probably not on the flat rocks of the James River. Supposedly one of Richmond’s greatest treasures.

Definitely one of my favorite places in Virginia. If I was a kid I'd have so much fun jumping rock to rock, now I'm 22 and cleared a 6 foot jump over rushing water a few weeks back. I just wish the park system would figure out a way to reduce pollution from littering. So much glass and trash. Traffic cones and plastic containers have been seen there. Tubes, parts of floating docks, etc.

The little one loves walking around down here. A little tough to get to for him...we had to go over a bridge, down a flight of stairs and through a path, so he made the journey on my shoulders. The scenery and serenity is well worth the short walk. Great place to meet a new friend or build a fire or watch your favorite baby take in the outdoors.

absolutely beautiful place, probably my favorite nature spot in Richmond. the rocks on the river are nice and make a great spot to just sit and relax with some friends. been here a lot and its always nice. the walk there is also very cool, even if you decide to park in the parking lot they have, the bridge to it is really cool and you get amazing views of Richmond! Also a pretty big place that has a lot of spaces for people even though it does get busy, it's never super crowded and you can always find somewhere to sit. Never anything super concerning going on and I've been here at night a couple times, it's a...
