Cool park in the neighborhood. Gravel loop for running or walking or skipping. The name is confusing though. How does this park have anything to do with canoes? If you brought a canoe here, you would have to climb down probably over 100 vertical feet of trail and stairs to get to enough water to float a canoe. Better names may be 22nd Street Overlook Park, Semmes Park, RFD Station 17 Park, Parent's Park, or Valero Park. If the river is low and you are driving around with a canoe, try Reedy Creek access just west on Riverside Drive or cruise on across the river and put in at the boat ramp at 415...

When we arrived there were two guys suspiciously hanging out in the parking lot. When we didn't feel comfortable leaving our car so we went to the other lot. They followed shortly after. We left and hours later came back to try again. They were back in the first lot. We spoke to the Park Ranger, who said there have been a lot of car break ins. Long story short, they were definitely trying to break into cars. We didn't end up seeing the actual park. Truly unfortunate that safety is making the park not able...
