The lighthouse itself is in top shape, very well preserved. We did not know if it was still operational, because there's no tour guides or park rangers around, to give any information. There are boardwalks surrounding the lighthouse, and there's a gazebo for shade. The lighthouse stands on a rock cliff, and the ocean is about 60 feet vertically below. There's no information posted about the history of the place. There was a small shop on the grounds that sold beverages and snacks. The restrooms were in bad shape, they looked and smelt like they hadn't been serviced in a while. The access to the beach is a foot trail beside the lighthouse grounds, through trees and vegetation. Tourists and locals seem to access the narrow beach and enjoy the lovely, clear blue waters. The only signs posted are in Spanish and translate to "Danger Zone". The beach is a long narrow strip of sand, with rock outcrops, but it is beautiful! There are no lifeguards, so swim at your own risk! Read moreFaro Punta Higüeras is a pretty cool place to visit. The views are nice and the vibe is relaxing, but there are a few things that could definitely be better. Right now, the road leading to the lighthouse has some construction going on, and honestly, it takes away a bit from the experience.
Also, I’m pretty sure there used to be a small shop or stand nearby where you could grab something to eat or drink...but it looks like it’s gone now (unless I’m mistaken). That little touch made a difference, so it’s a bit of a letdown not having it there anymore.
Still worth checking out, but hopefully they bring back some of the charm it...

Which you can enter from the last gate on the right corner of the parking area. so essentially you can see everything this place has to offer , a brightly colored light house , a raised platform to overlook the sea and it's amazing sunset into the oceanic horizon , a top view of the beach way down below and which is full of surfers.
