Great soccer field. Great water park feature. Because the park us new-ish, the trees are puny and offer little shade. It's difficult to be out there on hot days. And even once the trees do mature, there aren't many of them, considering how large the park is. Mistlin park, by far, has THE BEST outdoor theater for movie night in the park. I wish Ripon did movie in the park on a weekly basis in the Summertime. We're lucky if they do 1 per year, and that's just a huge waste of a perfect place for movie in the park, in one of the m I st perfect communities in the Central Valley. It's small, quaint, exclusive, neighborly. Ripon is a great place to raise kids, and Mistlin Park is so nice to have here...we don't have to go to Modesto or Manteca for our kid's weekend soccer games, and it has the perfect space next to the soccer fields for our annual carnivals, with plenty of parking space too. We are blessed to have Mistlin Park in our community. One more suggestion: in addition to utilizing the outdoor theater for more events, Mistlin park also needs more bathrooms, and a second covered area with picnic tables (and BBQ grills!!) for parties. Right now there's 1 covered picnic area, right by the playground and water park feature, but the park is big enough for a second picnicking area....maybe they'll add one (and BBQ grills) when they complete the planned park extention in the orchard to the south of the park...and did hopefully they'll leave some of the mature almond trees in that orchard, as Mistlin Park is the location for our annual almond blossom festivities, and the park desperately needs old/large...
Read moreI can't give 5 full stars because parking can be an issue for sure. We had an 8 am game, and another at 12 pm but because of no food allowed inside, we packed a cooler and were very happy with our parking spot right outside the gate for fields 5 and 6. Can't comment on the snack shack. If you arrive before 9 am, your own coffee is allowed in. We had teammates leave that had to park in the far parking lot upon return.
Baseball, the sign says "no pets". However, I did have my service dog along, but not in her vest or identifiable as such, and I was not questioned. I saw one other golden doodle pup too (don't know that situation) looked like a family pet. So, I suspect it may depend on who's at the gate. For us, it's an hour long drive so our other pup stayed home. Just know the rule is "no pets" but you may or may not get in with a well behaved pup.
We were on field 5 and could also see field 6. They both seemed well maintained and turf was in decent condition. My players' only complaints were having to wear turf shoes in the outfield which is grass. It was slippery because it was wet.
For those used to places like Twin Creeks that have indoor food seating and a bar, this is not that place, but the experience on the field was good for us and had warm, friendly adults and youth...
