Nice place to get away to walk and breathe in nature. Wildlife such as deer, raccoons and coyotes can often be seen in the forest or crossing the road (be watchful when driving through). There has also been a lot of curating that has been done since Toni Preckwinkle has taken over. The underbrush and predatory vines have been cleared away, dead trees cut down, waterway management to avoid flooding. It looks great! The Trailside Museum has continued to have outdoor activities such as food drives, fall activities while observing Covid requirements. The trail along side the river is now clear and available for hikes. It's good to...

It was very beautiful, I flew in for a party that my family was having at the pavilion. The party was reserved for 80 people and only 60 chairs were out and 8 tables and the location was paid for and reserved until 10 pm. Well at 9 25 the girl that was working there started closing the back doors where people were standing because there were no seats and she started removing the balloons from the front door. So everyone had no choice at that time but to start cleaning up and leaving. Maybe next time the rent out the pain, the staff needs to speak to the people and tell them to start wrapping it up instead of just start...

I attended a family picnic on July 2nd in Grove 3. It started out as being a lovely event until it was time for people to relieve themselves. We learned that the Portapotty was DEPLORABLE.. We weren't allowed access to the field house and was not given a clean dumped facility to use. The Portapotty had not been clean or serviced in months. They're were kids, babies and seniors at this event. To be refused by an Park Employee for" an alleged event". Do to say the least my family and I will not be returning to this God forsaken place anymore. I will be alerting everyone to not...

While it's not the best wildlife preserve, its the best wildlife preserve in the area. For someone who is interested in becoming a survivalist as a side passion, it was great to go our and hike along the trails. Some of the trails aren't really well kept, and near the railroad tracks it can get pretty hard to find the trails. But on one of the trails we had a pretty breath taking experience with some of the wildlife. Two doe came within 20 feet of us and some larger deer came within 100. Overall, I would recommend going to Thatcher woods.

Took a decent walk through the woods today. Stayed away from the pavilions though as blaring bumping bass just doesn't mix with a nature walk for me. Too much debris, broken glass and trash were evident....no matter how far off the trail or deep into the wood I traveled. Saw about 4 deer, cautiously peeking out keeping a watchful eye more towards the noise rather than me or my dogs. I've seen the forest and worst conditions with far more trash. I have to say it looks better today than it did 5 years ago.
