Thatcher Woods Pavilion — Local services in River Forest

We just got married here in May of 2025 and it was the best decision ever! Thatcher Woods is beautiful and the building is stunning! The stonework and fireplaces are gorgeous! We had both our ceremony and reception here and it was the most perfect day and this place has the perfect set up for it! The grass was a spectacular place for our ceremony and it was an absolute picture perfect day! Cocktail hour was inside and on the BIG patio, which was so nice so our family and friends could still enjoy the weather! and then our dinner and reception was inside! We set up our tables and chairs, some pipe and drape, and the rooms were perfectly elevated! We had an incredible mobile caterer that worked perfectly with this venue! The bathrooms are clean and new! The building is handicap accessible which was hugely important for us!! The way the two rooms open between is awesome and it feels like one big space! Lots of light inside which is great for pictures! We booked the morning of the next day so that we wouldn't have to clean up the night of and that was essential! We just came back in the morning! The cook county attendants who set up our table lay out and were there throughout our event were fantastic! Shoutout Maria, Anthony, Tina, and Allison!

To anyone reading this. And I swear to you I am not lying. I was out there playing my flute deep in the forest, and I heard the sounds of screams. First far from me so I continued playing. And as the screams got closer I got more worried cause where I was sitting I should have been able to see whatever that was making that sound. I saw NOTHING needless to say I got tf out of there. I'm going back again and seeing if I have another experience like that. It's a beautiful park and I'm going to talk with the coordinators to see what they say about the sounds after I show them the video I have. The screams have been making my skin crawl for days. EDIT - SO IT TURNS OUT IT WAS COYOTES MAKING THAT SOUND. Apparently when theres multiple ones together the sound they make combined sounds like a blood...

I was very excited for this venue and the event itself. 5 stars for the venue and the space. BUT I had issues with some other stuff--- everything from booking, deposit and full payment seemed okay and I thought I had it all covered. But just a week before the event, I found out I had incomplete application. - insurance was required and got it but the name on the insurance had to match the person getting the permit! Seems like small thing...it is but what is frustrating is all of this could have been cleared during the first two calls and clearly stressed/spelled out to ensure no surprises later on. There was lot of phone tag to fill in gaps and running around behind scenes to make the deadline. Overall, I will reserve this...
