Beautiful place to stay in KC! The Argosy hotel and spa! #kansascity #hotel #kansascitymo #travel #riverside

We have stayed here in the past for special occasions. Not big gamblers but just like to do something different every once in a while. We stayed for my husband’s birthday weekend and the entire experience was awful. We dropped our stuff off in our room and went straight to dinner so we did not inspect our room prior. Went to the steakhouse and the food and service were terrible. Again, we are not gamblers so we were paying cash for this meal. My husband got the Lobster tail that was 60$. It was tough and overcooked. My son and I got the crab cakes that were 44$ and they did not even look like crab-cakes. They were very thin, overcooked and extremely salty. It mortifies me to send food back but I couldn’t even eat these. The server took and back and suggested I order the filet. I ordered it medium, came out beyond well done (more like jerky) and again extremely salty. It took forever to even get any of our food and drinks. The server was lovely and apologized over and over but it didn’t make it taste any better. I did not have to pay for my meal but I just wanted a good meal not all the drama and we still spent a large chunk of money for a very poor meal. Proceed to the room. IT WAS FILTHY! The toilet room had dirty floors. There was a TOENAIL, an earring and earring back mixed in with all the filth. They clearly do not clean the floors. Then there was poop stuck on the inside of the toilet. The sink was clogged, would fill up and not drain. There were light bulbs out in some of the lamps. The room was a non smoking room but was very musty smelling and I woke up both mornings completely congested. Again, I hate to be a complainer so I told my husband I would just wipe stuff down. I always bring Clorox wipes so I wiped stuff down. By the end of the first night my husband was creeped out and just wanted to go home. He called the front desk, the person was not too friendly. Offered a room move (I was not cleaning another room) and told us they could not do anything about the next night because we booked through Priceline. I don’t care who I booked through, if your room is this unfit something should be done. Regardless, she said she would have her supervisor call back. After waiting and waiting my husband called back and got a supervisor. She was friendly but still did not seem bothered that we were upset about the condition of our room. She also said they had nobody at night to clean so she would send someone up the next morning and of course nobody ever showed up. Proceed to day 2, we thought we would try the 99hops in hopes of a good experience. Nope, the service again was awful. Our food never came, we asked about it after a very long wait and he had to reorder it because “it most likely got taken to the wrong table” according to the bartender. They were ridiculously short staffed and everyonat the bar was highly irritated by the poor service, nobody could even get silverware when they did get their food. Another couple said their room was disgusting also. We were having family up for the evening and wanted to take them to dinner there but ended up going to pick up dinner outside of the casino and had them come to our room for dinner so we didn’t have to deal with more disappointed. Not only was all of this bad then the gambling was atrocious. Again, not a big gambler but it would be nice to sit and play for a little bit and have fun. I don’t even expect to win big. We spent very little time in the casino because our money disappeared quickly. It was a huge disappointment and it is such a shame that we can’t enjoy this place anymore. Wish we would have stayed home.

So, this was the first time we have stayed at Argosy. We normally stay at another venue. We booked a room for saturday 8-17. Very disappointed! So first and foremost. $12 amenity fee. This is for mini water bottles, wifi, $5 credit for food but you have to charge your meal to the room when you go to a restaurant, free local calls. Like really? I paid $219 for a king bed room and then I have to pay for telephone, water that comes out of the faucet and wifi? The room was decent except…….I went to shower this am and I had hot, oh yeah, only hot water. I never could get cold water to come out of the shower. I messed with it and so did my husband. I was dizzy by the time I got done and my skin was red. The top head coming out of the ceiling of shower splatters water so much that the floor outside the shower was puddled. The shampoo bottles were nasty. The lock on them was not locked. There was something on the floor of the shower also. The sink stopper was so low that toothpaste wouldn’t go down. Now on to the room. I went to make coffee (in my $219 room) and there were no cups, 1 regular coffee, 1 decaf pack. The sugar, creamer and stirrer pack was opened and the stirrer was taken out of one. So no coffee. They give you the 2 bottles of water that are basically a cup, sure they give you more but that means a trip downstairs. So now I have to watch my card as the deposit came off but I have a charge that the desk clerk said was a refund. I know the difference between the two. We asked the clerk at checkin we wanted the quietest room when she asked if he had a preference. She said our spot would be quiet. Well there was a family with 3-4 kids 1 door down that we could hear. I get families and kids but this was for a couple weekend and it is a casino. I don’t get having kids stay. It isn’t like it is a location close to family experiences. We won’t be back to stay at these prices and service. The restaurants lack. We ate at 99 hop house but we had to wait for workers to stop chatting to get seated. Our waitress was decent but was rushing to get home and she said she would have someone check on us but they never did. We had to ask her to get more beers when she had already gotten us a ticket and not asking if we wanted anything else. Oh and don’t even think about the drinks on the floor. Holy moly! $6 for a 6 oz cup with large ice, nasty Coke that tasted flat and couldn’t taste the rum or jack daniels. Very, very disappointed! I wish we would have gone down and stayed downtown instead. Oh and I don’t know what was on the ceiling. While I appreciate the response in this economy I will not be coming back. This should not have happened and as I see on reviews, this isn’t just my poor experience. Why would I take a chance and spend another $200?

I waited a couple of days to make sure I was calm and also to reflect before writing this review. I left the rooms blank because I never saw mine. NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN TREATED WITH SO MUCH DISRESPECT AS I WAS HERE BY THE FRONT DESK! THEY NEED A NEGATIVE STARS SIDE BECAUSE ONE STAR IS MORE THAN THEY DESERVE. I booked online the day of my stay. I knew I would arrive later than the 4pm check in so I made sure to read every detail about my reservation. I was pleased to see there was no time limit on check in. So, when I arrived just after 9pm, I was shocked to learn my reservation had been canceled. I was told that if you don't check in by 8pm and you don't inform them, your reservation automatically gets canceled. I did not get angry however I let them know that it doesn't say this anywhere on line and had I known I would have certainly informed them because I knew I would be arriving well after check in. Despite this woman acting as if I was in the wrong, she did offer me one room they had left so I was willing to let it all go. However, my man was the one paying for the room and it is my personal choice not to have credit cards so I could not pay and they couldn't use the card for the original reservation because it was canceled. So, I told them to give me some time and I would try and find out what was going on. I sat in a lobby chair across from the front desk and my man said he was on his way so I just waited there for him. He got turned around trying to get there and it took him much longer to get there than he anticipated but honestly I was tired and kept nodding off waiting. Not once did either lady at the desk say anything to me once I sat down. So when he arrived and we went to the desk despite them both standing there they said nothing so the new lady kindly asked if she could help us. I told her we are checking in and gave my name. The original lady speaks and tells the other lady that she won't find that reservation because it's been canceled. I said yes but we have a new reservation and the woman informed it was canceled as well. When my man had not arrived by 11 pm despite my sitting there still, she canceled my reservation. This was when I was so shocked at her actions and behavior I could not believe what had taken place. I asked her why she never bothered to tell me we had until 11 to keep this reservation and she told me she was busy working and it wasn't her job to walk over and tell me this. I raised my voice then only slightly and not enough to cause a scene and said look lady.... this is when she picked up the phone and told me security would be happy to escort me out. I sat in that lobby waiting for over an hour. Clearly I was not going to cancel my reservation. I was only sitting there still because they canceled my first one without my knowledge minutes before my arrival. She thought it wasn't her job to let me know my reservation would expire again at a specific time??? Clearly this time she was notified that I would be still taking the room! I would highly recommend not going here and instead booking with Ameristar. That is where we went at almost midnight after Argosy treated us like garbage! Ameristar was happy to have us and took great care of us allowing us a late check out and giving us a great room on the 7th floor when they were nearly at capacity. Apparently this woman at argosy doesn't understand that she is in the hospitality business. People come to your hotel and lose lots of money in your casino so you always treat them kindly and provide them with top shelf hospitality so they will keep giving you their money! I have never been treated so awful by someone in a customer service position in my 48 years of life! Argosy Casino needs to find better help and/or be better about informing guests of their policies. I will never give them a dime of my money and hate that they have Penn Play for their rewards. I like Penn play and wish they had no affiliation to this...

We have not been to your casino in several months, we wanted to have several thousand to wager. We came because of the free slot play and were starting with just $5 of our own money to see if we could win on free money. We were approached by one of the team members and accused of stealing the last time that we were at the casino. Due to some faulty data breach or vulnerability of your system a person's money can be stolen from the machine using an application that you are encouraged to download on to your phone and connect your personal checking account to. It was implied that My wife (currently the Finance director for a very large corporate conglomerate) and Myself the General manager for a very large group locally owned were part of a conspiracy to collect money twice when a machine had a problem and had to be rebooted, cameras reviewed, and fixed in order to operate properly. Billions of dollars pass through our hands every quarter and so we certainly have morals that would dictate how we handle ourselves in the world, we would never consider such an event, nor ethically speaking have we ever been privy to anything like this in our lives. We were asked to pay the casino around $180 in order to make the accused situation right. We did some investigation of our own into the events that occurred that day and can not find anywhere that would indicate that we were in anyway responsible for or party to the events at question. We are not responsible for any mistake that the casino makes, nor would the casino pay us if the machine had a malfunction its written on the screen of all of the machines that I have visited. So we were being asked to do something that the casino would not do for us. Secondly we felt that we were being personally attacked for a known (to the casino and its staff) issue publicly, that we had nothing to do with, or any knowledge of previously. I am a very honest person and did consider paying it back because I legitimately wanted to consider that if it had actually happened that I would owe the casino money for said over payment. ( we could not find any proof that we were overpaid) The night in question we stay in the casinos hotel and each spent a couple thousand dollars. This was the last night of our vacation so we didn't even visit our room except to set our things down but our room was very dirty but we ended up having fun all night so we literally had to change for work straight from the casino floor and head to work. We have not been back since then but we will not be visiting again because of the likelihood based on what we were told, that our money could be stolen using the application. We also would not like to be harassed and publicly embarrassed. If we could have this happen to us, that means that it is also possible that the casino staff could fabricate anything that they want in the future as well. We have both contacted lawyers and so far have not found anything that we could do, to prevent others from experiencing the same thing. We often times don't use our card and or the application and we feel that doing so, does make you vulnerable to malicious attacks. IF YOU USE YOUR CARD OR THE APPLICATION they encourage you to download, for the casino SOMEONE CAN STEAL YOUR MONEY FROM THE MACHINE YOU ARE ON *This is proof, if anything that its possible to have your money stolen...
