Really disappointed and upset that Marcus theater of Rochester, Mn — was perfectly ok with letting the public not know that their AC was not working on 6/14 for the Jurassic Park 7:30pm theater in Theater 7 during a day that had a heat index of almost 100 degrees outside. No consent given at the ticket booth, no sign up, no courtesy water to at least keep folks hydrated— nothing. When I asked if they knew about it they brushed myself and my family and 6 other folks off, that “Oh a guy was through there to check it and it was fine.” When informing the manager at guest services he said that and then said “Oh it was only the last few minuets.” No it wasn’t. It was an awful time and if someone has heat or dehydration, asthma , or heart conditions they have the right to know there is no AC for a 2.5 hour long movie in a boxed in theater almost full with people on a 100 degree humid day. This was lack of informed consent. If I had known that it would be like that, I would not have brought my family and just come another day. Not ok Marcus Theater. Also when I asked them if it’s going to be like this all summer, the whole theaters 7 and 14 not working as the concession lady said, they didn’t answer me. So this is me warning folks — if you are going to a cool theater on a hot day— they couldn’t promise it tonight. Also their staff gas lights folks when they are letting them know something is wrong in their theater is not ok. Never giving them my money ever again. There were other folks there with equal concerns like mine. It wasn’t just me. They need to put signs up if that is like that again on a 100 degree day and please let the public have informed consent on going there, to those theaters 7 or 14, and inform folks if their theater has no AC on for health reasons at least. Super upsetting please treat future customers better it’s their safety in...
Read moreI had purchased some gift card tickets at Costco when I first moved here several years ago. Was at the Toyota of Rochester (which is truly a waste of time... buy your car elsewhere) and we walked over to see a movie. The place was deserted. When we walked in we went past the ticket both which is indoors. We had to look for a while to find any sign of life. It was eerie. Then we went to the window to ask about movies and the guy had no idea what "Fan Event" meant about one of the movies. He was helpful but definitely seemed bored. The woman at the concession stand was kind of rude and definitely not happy. There was no one else there. The theater was empty and we saw the entire thing with the place to ourselves. It seems like the place would be out of business if not for the substantial kickbacks they receive from the big tertiary care center in town. Eerie and definitely as other reviewers said, like stepping back into the 1990's. I really don't see how this place is still open. With no business and the mediocre staff attitudes, I really don't see how it is in existence but for being subsidized. I don't know how Netflix and Hulu and Prime haven't completely killed the business of moviegoing. Why do we want to pay to go to a movie when we can do the same thing at home and not pay $30. Heaven forbid we want some water and not some fatty soda then we have to buy an earth-clogging bottle for $10? No thanks. Shut it down and convert it to an amazon warehouse so Rochester can finally take advantage of Prime. The theater is an overall shadow of what the town is -- a ghost town. Sleepy place. Very boring and the movies are included in that. That being said we liked the movie and the seats were cool and...
Read moreSo...this theater wasn't getting great reviews and they marked their previous Google Listing as permanently closed and now have this one which currently has no reviews, until now.
My experience wasn't great, I gave them 2 stars, though if allowed I would have given 2.5 however after something as shady as this, it's now bumped down to one star. Included below is my original review.
Went for a 10am showing. First time going here, I'm am pretty fequent movie goer and am new to town.
Soap dispensers in the men's room were empty save for one. Not a huge deal usually so I let them know and went to my movie. 2 1/2 hours later men's room is full and still only one full dispencer so there's 6 guys crowding around it trying to use it.
Popcorn was stone cold, almost like it was the popcorn used from the day before. Once butter was put on it it made it feel slimy while trying to eat it. I ended up tossing it after a few handfuls.
When I tried to leave feedback it took 10-15 minutes for someone to come to the guest service counter. I wasnt trying to get anything for free I just wanted to leave some feedback.
Theater itself was nice, seats weren't bad. My personal preference for drinks are Coke products and this place carries Pepsi.
Theater was clean but for the first show of the day you'd expect that.
I'll probably check out the other theaters in town before coming back, assuming I do. It bugged me that employees saw me standing and guest services for that long and didn't even...
