My 79 yr old mom, who just lost her husband, decided to take a few vintage pieces to this shop to get an opinion on the worth. Iāve lived in the Webster Groves Community all of my life, never have I dealt with such an insensitive and rude individual within my community. Zero customer service skills and very unprofessional. Iām not big on leaving reviews but I had to for this one. Do not take anything to this cluttered hoarders shop. We dropped off two statues (dated 1871), two Waterford crystal decanters and we were told that we would receive a call back about them. We never received a call back. When I called to inquire, the owner was extremely rude and giving me every excuse in the book. Then magically she remembered my momās statuesā¦.she said they were filthy, that she cleaned them up and sold one of them! They were not filthy, we never received a call and we did not sign or agree to a consignment contract with them. She just kept my momās pieces, sold a 1871 statue (aka bust), did not want to give me any more information and then hung up on me. She said I was screaming at her because I got upset about not receiving a phone call and finding out she sold one of the statues. I was not screaming. Iāve tried to get in contact with this owner for months. We may never find out what happened to my momās statues or decanters. So sad :( UPDATE - This owner is a liar. As you can see in the response to my review, she makes a lot of excuses. ZERO accountability! We NEVER signed a contract and I have been asking for the alleged contract for weeks now. The statues were in such bad shape that she sold one? She also sold the Waterford crystal decanterās and didnāt mention itā¦.I guess she was hoping we forgot. Unfortunately, she created this mess, not us. Yet somehow itās our fault. I was definitely upset when I was talking to her on the phone (tried for months to get a hold of her, even stopped by the store) but was not screaming and did not call 22 times. She did send me an email reply and it said to āSay hello to Steveā Who is Steve?Very unprofessional and she will not provide the alleged contract we signed. We will probably have to go to courtā¦The ādirtyāstatues (dated 1871) and the Waterford crystal decanterās were worth way more than $100. When she tried to offer us a payment of $75 for the 3 pieces she sold, we refused. Items are sold with NO contract and ZERO communication, except say hello to Steveā¦. NEW UPDATEā¦Below is the email reply I received from the owner when I again asked for a copy of the alleged contract. I offered to stop by to pick it up. The fact that she never mentions the alleged contract seems pretty sus. Iām heart broken for my mom as she only wanted to inquire about her pieces and trusted this store/owner. Now my momās pieces are gone and this is how we are being treated. She is closing it out and moving on. I guess weāre just supposed to be ok with that?! Itās so wrong! Owners email reply - ā Im almost 80 too, Everyday we all say our Gratefulness Prayers at the store You can easily find negativism in any thing you do .try using your anger & negativism into something positive .This has been closed out & I am moving on , this is private property and you are not welcome.ā
Iāll be sure to continue to update this review as we try to get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love this store and all the beautiful gems inside. I follow them on Facebook and finally had a chance to visit the store for the 1st time yesterday with my nephew and I can say it was quite uncomfortable. The older lady I'm guessing who is the owner of the store greeted me with a wonderful positive attitude but the young lady that was working with her from the 1st time I walked in the door had an Bias attitude towards my nephew and I the entire time we where in the store watching us like we where going to steal something. When we where about to leave out I stopped to talk with the elder lady of the store by the door and the young lady was staring in the window at us while we where chatting with the elder lady watching us the whole time as if we where going to cause harm to her or again steal something because she just had the most horrible attitude towards us the entire 30mins my nephew and I where in the store. It's sad in 2018 people still have this bias and think blk people are all the same. I guess because how we where dressed automatically made her think we where up to no good and it's sad. I had a pocket full of money ready to spend on several item's in the store but the vibe I felt and saw turned me off completely. This is a wonderful store to buy antiques from but far as my money being spent here it's...
