I have been a member of the Clay CoOp for over a year and have loved every second of it. The studio is extremely clean and organized. There are frequent bisque and cone 6 firings. The group of artists who are actual members of the studio are wonderful people... always respectful of one another's space, excited to share techniques/ give feedback on one another's work, and dedicated to ceramic arts as more than just a hobby but rather an important part of their lives. The overall level of artistry is very high and each artist brings a unique perspective to the studio.
The classroom side where weekly classes are held is a newer aspect to the studio which has proven to be very successful. Students who have never thrown on the wheel before improve immensely over the span of their class' session. Open Studio time allows these students to come in and practice on their own if they decide to. The environment is very welcoming and fun.
The studio director is extremely knowledgeable in clay, glaze, firings, technique, etc. He is ALWAYS willing to help the artists of the studio to reach their creative goals, whatever they may be, and is a very trustworthy person.
Lastly, as a young woman, I think it is important to say that the studio is a safe space to work in. I have never felt threatened while working in the studio alone or with other people. There are locks on the front and back doors that only studio members and students have access to opening.
The Clay CoOp is a very special place I hold close to my heart! I have nothing but good...

Read moreI've taken 3 classes now with Chris at the Clay CoOp, with the first two over a year ago and the third recently. After all that time, Chris remembered me and details about our dogs and friends, which made me feel so welcome. Chris is such a friendly and fun person to talk to and learn clay from. He makes the studio feel so relaxing and fun, even if you don't know anyone else there. He's so methodical and clear with teaching newbies, and also will explain the technical and chemical side of advanced techniques for those looking for more of a challenge. It's so hard to take just one class! Also, we've been wearing masks and have reduced class sizes for COVID safety and I never feel anxious about that. Everyone is very respectful. Chris is such a knowledgeable and personable potter and teacher, I'd highly recommend all of the...
