This is a nice spot for a community skatepark! I came here for a local event "Skate Jam" it is their 4th year running it for competition in beginners to expert all age & levels. My son competed along with other families of all ages, it was a great atmosphere for his first try & the facility is comfortable. Even the mayor of rockville was there. Definitely was an outdoor party, DJ, food trucks, moon bounce, face painting, arts & crafts plus local artist and skateboard shops ready to set you up for your 1st board & gear to go with it! We loved "Art of the Black Lotus" skateboards, the winners of the competition received a deck & trophy with their art! Men & women competed & it is a spacious concrete park with bowls. Areas for families to sit under with shade & the most unconvential add-on an air conditioned restroom! Most outdoor stateparks I go to do not have a restroom area, so it is convienent for families or if you want to spend the day at the park. It is wheelchair accessible! Lots of areas for parking & there is a swim center next door if you want to end your session cooling off there. (Currently under construction but worth it for the huge water slide) Rockville has alot to offer, we love visiting during the weekends. There is always something to do. I look forward to more...
Read moreI used to skate the old skatepark for years until they closed it a few years ago. It was the spot where my buddies and I would get together every night after work and get a good skate session until the lights went out. I was really looking forward to having something like this again but the helmets rules and hours just make the park not worth skating. I understand if younger kids need to wear protective gear but making experienced adult skateboarders wear helmets is just ridiculous! It felt more like I was skating at a daycare than a skatepark! They’re skateparks in nearby cities like Olney, Silver Spring, etc. that you can just walk in whenever and skate helmet free! Even though the old Rockville park layout wasn’t as good, I’d take it over the new...
Read moreThe park is incredible. Don't pay attention to reviews where its obvious that person doesn't skate and is simply writing to complain. The park was completed by an incredible company, Spohn Ranch, who also did North Laurel, Leesburg, South Branch, Reston, etc. and this park is buttery smooth. It has tons of ledges, transitions, a bowl, rails, benches, etc. No stairs. It is free. You have to check in and give your info the first time you go. You then you get a little card to show them moving forward. Yes, you have to wear a helmet...don't let that keep you from skating one of the best parks in the DMV that is brand new. So yeah, check in, wear a helmet, and skate while you forget that its on your head, its...
