If I could give no stars I would. A group of my friends and I were on a wine tour and we called ahead a couple days in advance to let them know we would be there. This was our last stop of the day and we were running behind schedule so we got there 30 minutes before close. We went in planning on buying a couple of bottles of wine (meaning 10-12) and then hitting the rode. Well, when we walk in the gentleman standing at the counter offers to give a tour of the distillery for those that didnt want to taste wine or purchase. About 8 of us out of the 42 people went on his tour. It was twenty minutes long and rushed. I honestly felt like it was a tour he would quickly give to a new employee. When the tour was over he comes up to us and asks for payment! $2.50 a person THAT SHOWED UP! $105 for us to show up and buy wine?ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I have never been charged to show up and buy wine. He NEVER mentioned a $2.50 charge per person when we called ahead. If that were the case we would not have gone.
I will NEVER go back or buy this wine and neither should you! What a joke and...
Read moreI have been going to Conneaut Cellars for over 20 years. The winery setting is welcoming. It is clean, we'll organized and the store is decorated in a way that puts you at ease when you walk in. They over a great variety of wines, some unique to the region. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. They will give you samples before you buy to be sure you are getting what you like. Most samples are free. Some have a small tasting charge but if you buy a bottle after the tasting it will be deducted from the price. The winery offers some interesting wine accessories, recipes using their wines, special discounts for frequent and case buyers, and does excellent custom labels for events. The prices are reasonable. They offer several events throughout the year that are fun and we'll attended. I am anxiously awaiting the opening of the distillery and anticipate that these new products will be the same high quality at a reasonable price as...
Read moreConneaut Cellars was an interesting find on a trip to Pymatuning. This is a rare find these days where they actually offer up to (6) complimentary wine samplings! Distilled spirits are available at a nominal price. This is a great way to get an idea on what you might like.
The location itself is convenient if you are in the Conneaut Lake area. They do have a small shop inside. They did have steady traffic while we where there, with a lot of the folks being a member of their wine club.
Many of the grapes are from the region while others (some of the reds) are from Washington State. We liked the wines but did not fall in love with any this trip. We did get the one that we liked the most to go. The samples raised this up from what have otherwise been a three star for us. Good...
