The arena was very nice, clean & well maintained. The only negative I have to comment about our first time there is the lack of organization!
We arrived early on purpose so I would (hopefully) be able to locate handicapped ♿️ parking close to the building so I wouldn't have to walk as far. Thankfully I was able to, and we came in and were part of about 50 (? Or so) people that were already there, all waiting in line in front of 1 metal detector. Now, there were like 5 or 6 of the detectors . At one point during the waiting a gentleman came around and said that we should basically be making lines at each detector, as they would be opening all of them.... So that's what WE did at least. We moved down to the last one, as we were last in line. Fast forward about 15-20 minutes and we see the lady is starting to let SOME people in, but not others. Ok, no problem! It's not like I think we're royalty or something! BUT...... I DID pay for the pit passes which allows for early entry to be able to meet the drives & see the trucks up close. So a gentleman that was there with her told EVERYONE that everyone with pit passes should come over to that line (mind you, it was the same line we were originally in!!!) as they were starting to let them in. Now, not 5 minutes later , YET ANOTHER person comes back around and tells everyone there should be lines AT EACH OF THE METAL DETECTORS!!! 🙄 And of course NOW, there are so many people inside waiting that we figured we might as well just stay & wait right where we were at!!!
But bottom line...... as many people that came by and each told everyone to do something different.... making it to where someone with serious walking abilities went from the front of the line to waiting in a line that took 20 minutes to get in.... Well, THAT needs some work; some SERIOUS...
Read moreThe good: Alice Cooper put on an amazing show!! 🎩🤘🏼
The bad: I got my sister and I tickets for this show for her birthday. We've been so excited to see Alice Cooper live. They were excellent tickets on the main floor fairly close to the stage however when we got there and made our way to the main floor we saw another woman in a wheelchair being turned away & relocated to an upper level section. We were told that all wheelchair seating on main floor had been relocated due to wheelchairs/wheelchair users being "a fire hazard". Long story short, we absolutely weren't going to be relocated off the main floor & just accept some downgraded seats. It's disgraceful that they did that to paying disabled concert goers & it makes me so sad they just accepted that because it's not acceptable by today's standards. They managers "compromise" was that they would let us stay on the main floor but we had to sit in the very back row. The entire night people stood crowded in what was supposed to be the clear aisle yet somehow people in wheelchairs are a hazard? People were STANDING on the folding chairs yet someone like me in a wheelchair was denied the spot/view I paid for?! Wheelchair users are not helpless invalids, the majority of us would be able to get ourselves out independently & swiftly if an emergency happened on the main floor. If someone did need complete assistance common sense would lead any reasonable person to realize that they are there with an assistant of some type.
✨✨Disabled people are not a fire hazard.✨✨ 👩🏼🦼 Equal access is not a risk & it's not optional. Especially when you got $1.6 million in tax payer money (tax payers like me & millions of other disabled...

I have been to quite a few concerts around the state over the years, and one thing I run into repeatedly is people standing directly in front of disabled seating areas obstructing my view of the stage. Being wheelchair bound with no ability to stand, this sucks. Alot. At the Dow Event Center, for the first time in my concert attending history the ushers actually asked the people in front of me to sit down, or move. It was truly refreshing to actually Hear AND See the show I paid to attend just like everyone else. I'm not the type to make complaints to staff over such things, so for this to happen without any prompting on my part was a great and welcome surprise. If I had to be critical of anything, it would be the bathrooms. They do leave some things to be desired, such as a bathroom stall that can accommodate a wheelchair and close (at least in the one bathroom I visited). That's the only reason I didn't leave 5 stars. The parking situation was less then ideal, having to park many blocks away but the plus side was not being stuck in a massive parking lot with hundreds of other cars all trying to leave at...
