This lighthouse is out of the way but well worth the drive. They've done a great job restoring the lighthouse after it fell over.

I've toured most of the lighthouses in Florida and the one thing that amazed me is the stairs going up to the top. They rebuilt the stairs using reclaimed hard wood, and they added a second railing on the inside if of the stairs. If you have ever climbed a lighthouse and met someone coming down while you were going up know how it can be a challenge passing someone. With the added railing on the inside you'll find it like night and day while passing someone on the stairs.

Take the time to check it out. And after you've toured the lighthouse you can take a walk on the beach or go check out the Purple Parrot restaurant for lunch or dinner. They are both within walking distance to...

In 2012 I came to see this lighthouse. It was beautiful. The ladies working in the museum were wonderful and very nice, however the man working in the lighthouse taking tickets was mean. When I walked in he didn’t say a word. Not even a hello. I said is this the way I go? Because I saw the stairs. He ignored me. I preceded to walk toward the stairs and he began yelling at me. Told me to stop, that people on top had to come down first. He hurt my feelings and I wondered why he didn’t tell me that when I gave him my ticket. I went stood by he wall. A next family came in behind me and he started talking to them and giving them a history story about the lighthouse. He asked them to go stand in line. To this day his attitude toward me still hurts. I guess he traumatized me or I would have let...

It has a small.museum.inside and several historical displays . There is an upper floor that has a miniature light house collection that you can look at,but there's no way but steps.to get there.,so if you're disabled, you are out of luck. They also have souvenirs for sale. The internet says that it's free to see the lighthouse, but that's not true.If you wish to climb the 92 steps to the top of the lighthouse, you have to pay to do so. There are little lizards everywhere and a separate building houses restrooms. A visitor's center is next to the lighthouse, but it was closed ,when we were there. There are picnic tables nearby and a kids playground. Parking is free. A snake crossed the sidewalk in front of a couple. The man shooed it away with...

This Lighthouse is the best tourist attraction on the Forgotten Coast from Pensacola to Carabelle. Worth climbing to the top as the view is outstanding. Not sure why it's not more popular, I have not found this online prior to my road trip but was driving by and stopped. They also have a well stocked gift shop, I did not buy anything because I was hoping for something better down the road, but there was nothing better, wish I bought my souvenirs from the Forgotten Coast here. Also the drive on the bridge from mainland to the lighthouse was so beautiful, almost unreal. My favorite part of the trip. $5 per ticket to go up and you have to use a ladder for the few last steps so don't wear short dresses. Visited November 2022.

It's an absolutely gorgeous town! We stayed a week in a beach house called No Worries, which was very cute and conveniently located around shops, a park and a short stroll down the boardwalk put you on a soft sanded beach. The trip was pleasant, besides the long bridge that you have to cross to get there. I only say this because i have a phobia of bridges, so it's a warning for those of you who dislike long and high bridges. The house had a few things about it that were problematic, like an outdated and barely working electric can opener (bring your own or prepare for a battle). All in all it was a pleasant experience and should definitely be considered for your vacation!

If you’re in the area and are not afraid of heights or climbing allot of stairs then I suggest you stop by and visit this lighthouse. This was probably one of the easiest lighthouses I have ever climbed but be aware that at the very top you must climb straight up a metal ladder in a narrow opening. The history and the views are worth checking it out. The nearby house is the gift shop and also where you pay $5.00 for an adult ticket to climb. The house also shares the history of all the lighthouses keepers and their families. It is definitely worth checking out.
