I should have not ignored the negative reviews, but I was excited to give this place a try. To start with, we were seated almost immediately and were impressed with the views. However, that is where the good experience ended. It took almost 10 minutes for the server to greet us, though she certainly had time to greet tables who were sat after us. Once we were finally greeted and our order was placed, the food actually came out rather quickly, which should have been another warning sign. As an appetizer we ordered the onion rings, which were advertised as “fresh cut and piled high.” Needless to say, we got about 10 skinny onion rings which were poorly seasoned and certainly not “piled high.” I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich and asked if I could switch out the american cheese for something else. I was told the kitchen does not allow any substitutions, which is interesting since it was a simple slice of cheese on a $16.00 sandwich. The sandwich came out dry and clearly had been cooked in the microwave. My boyfriend, excited to get fresh seafood, ordered the “world famous” seafood platter which was also advertised as a “heaping platter.” Never has he been more disappointed in what he received. The fish was small, maybe a 3 inch piece, and the oysters and sea scallops looked and tasted like they came out of a can. The crab cake was cold and horribly under seasoned and the shrimp was barely grilled. Certainly not worth the $45 price tag, let alone worth paying anything. The server never once came back to check on us, and while we sat there with barely eaten food, took another 25 minutes to bring over the check. Overall we were horribly disappointed in the food and service, which leaves the only thing good worth...

The best tasting item was the HUSHPUPPY!!!!!
Very Busy Extra $$ on the drinks & receipt
Smelt like sewage going up the ramp. Almost turned around when I smelled it!!
Noisy .....maybe bad timing...kid standing in seat, loud, ohhhh the drama! I obviously wasn't drunk & felt like I was watching soaps!!!! (Not rating this, just stating the environment I was stuck next to....)
$180. For 4 of us....which I don't mind...if the food taste good....plus the tip additional $40. For 2 drinks
The rum drinks were not smooth for the price....I don't know what rum they used in those frozen drinks, but it was NOT a good drink! I also ordered a patron silver margarita on the rocks, salt rimmed.......did NOT taste like a patron silver! (Usually 2 shots) The bartender couldn't do the math & probably didn't give me the correct amount back....
The grilled Mahi Mahi was dry....thinish.... I was not happy with this. With a good piece of Mahi, it's Flavorful....to me.... So, I ordered the lemon tarragon sauce to attempt to make it taste good....NOPE! You've really got to have a taste for that sauce........
There was food left over on my family members' plates.....that's how I know it's not good! What's worse is when it's left in the fridge................that's how I really know it was pretty bad!!
I've been all over the east cost. Up in Maryland....buckets of crabs....NJ Shores seafood....down south...Tybee Island oysters....Jacksonville, Fl.....etc. Oh, the oysters by the crocker sack & lighting the grill up get togethers over the years....
Maybe my expectations were very high! I'm usually not disappointed with seafood, but the past 2 days.......
I will not go back to this restaurant....
Maybe it's just...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and strong drinks! If you’re here without small kids and just to have fun with no care of how much money you spend, then this is the place for you! Unfortunately for us we came for a family dinner and had small kids with us. We waited an hour for a table which we were ok with doing. Then an hour for our food. Our food portions were disappointing compared to the portions we had gotten of crab legs and scallops at The Station in apalachicola especially since we paid over double the price. I’m sorry but $40 for two claws of crab leg and 6 scallops is obscene to what we had been getting at other restaurants in the area. Our waitress only visited us 3 times for the hour and a half we were seated for. This meant no drink refills and we waited a good while for a high chair. In the end, we finally realized why our drinks were strong and why we had basically no service. It all amounted to little to no service with a 10% gratuity with a table of 7 even when we had split our checks (5 ppl on one check and 2 on the other. Both checks were charged gratuity). We Definitely won’t be back to The Blue Parrot. We will continue our restaurant services at The Station or The Red Pirate in Apalachicola for future family vacations. The Blue Parrot is just an island rip off unless you’re there for a good time without responsibilities (small kids for us! lol) and don’t care about wasting money then more power to ya! The bar was cool and fair. The restaurant portion...
