This school is a complete and utter joke. Absolutely ridiculous.
First, my husband signed up for classes for the 2015 Fall semester. However, when we found out we weren't going to afford it, he never went. There was a new policy going out saying if you hadn't paid, your classes were dropped. Easy enough, right? Plain and simple? Wrong!
When my husband went to apply for the 2016 Spring semester, all hell broke loose. They told him he owed them for the 2015 Fall semester... You know, the semester his classes got dropped? Apparently this had happened to quite a few more students as well. Dixie University was to hold a "hearing" for the students who signed up for the 2015 Fall semester and had their classes dropped because they couldn't pay for it. Dixie told my husband that he would hear back from them after the 26th of December whether he would still have to pay for the Fall semester or not. Well the 26th passed by. So did the 27th, 28th, 29th, so on. Nothing. My husband went in after the 1st of January to find out anything and they had told him they still didn't come to any conclusions yet and that they'd let him know next week. HA! Lies. He went in the following week and the answer was still the same.
On January 11th, I believe it was... You know, the first day of school? He received a letter in the mail (that was dated DECEMBER 18th, mind you... a week before they said he would get the answer..the first time..) stating that his petition to drop classes for Fall 2015 had been approved. Well jee, Dixie, thanks for letting us know the day school started instead of the actual day you told him you would know.
But that's not all! Today, February 19th, we receive a letter in the mail saying that he owes $2360 for the Fall 2015 semester... The semester you confirmed was dropped. The semester where he had to go to every teacher and get a signed document saying he never attended classes.
I may be wrong. Please correct me if I am. I haven't been to school in 2 years. But when the school sends you a letter saying you're in the clear and then contradicts itself saying you owe them money... I find this school to be unsure of it's own self.
Teachers here are brilliant though! At least when I attended 2 years ago! That's why I'm giving it two stars, because I loved my teachers. But the Administrative services here.. Jokes. If you can get past the Administrative offices and the sort, you're on your way to victory. Don't get fooled by them. They're little...
Read moreI attended DSU from 2011-2015, while there I received two degrees, psychology, and theatre. From my senior year onward I have watched the University make choices that completely undermine policy, and destroy an entire department. I used to encourage people to apply for Dixie, now I tell them to run for the hills because education has become so low on the priorities there.
I'm very proud of the education I received while at Dixie State University, but what the administration has done makes me ashamed of Dixie State University. These men that have been fired are all powerful educators, men I respect and admire.
Shame on President Williams, Shame on Mark Houser, Shame on all of those who have continued this witch hunt!
Professors denying an incompetent professor tenure should be praised, not persecuted! Those willing to challenge their students to break out of their shells, and grow, should be celebrated, not destroyed.
Those who started this fire will go down in the flames they created, and those they tried to burn will rise like a phoenix from the ashes.
President Williams, this is not going away, you will be revealed for the pathetic administrator and bully you've been. Just wait, your time in the light will come, your fears of being caught will come true.

Read moreI have never experienced a community of people that are so money hungry. I literally bought books from the book store in the condition they were in. I dropped the classes never touched the books tried to sell them and they wouldn't take them. I was there for two years and I was so fed up with them that I transferred to another school. The counselors don't try to help you graduate and sign you up for classes you have no interest in. They are condescending and difficult to work with. The campus is wonderful and the teachers are pretty decent. Besides the school everything else is a complete joke and if you park somewhere for 40 minutes you WILL get a parking ticket. They don't have sororities or fraternities because they are going for the "non-partying" look. But honestly college kids still find a way to drink and still do party regardless. They seem to be very LDS oriented. So if you want to acquire several misdemeanors and jail time go to this school. Even if you don't drink or do illegal things the cops will still try to give you tickets for being around underage people even if you are of age. St. George Utah is a joke of a city. They just want money and the whole town to convert to the...
