The Pavilion at Como Park in St. Paul is a lovely location to listen to music. I attended the Twin Cities Latin Music Festival (September 3rd 2022) on a gorgeous Saturday evening. I arrived late, so I was only able to see the second band, K-Libre perform. The music was very festive (but a little too loud) and the band members seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was definitely an eclectic mix of people. There were very talented couples who were dressed in cute outfits dancing salsa style and young parents dancing with their children. There were also women dancing salsa together. Everyone participating in the dancing appeared to be having a wonderful time. The cafe attached to the pavilion served food and drinks for very reasonable prices. I purchased a Cuban sandwich with fries that was very tasty but the wait for the food was a little long due to under-staffing in the kitchen area. The atmosphere at the festival was pleasant and upbeat. I just sat back, enjoyed my food and drink and savored a beautiful late summer evening listening to the music and watching the dancers.
I have attended other concerts there as well. The Minnesota Band performances were...
Read moreI picked up my friend Pam today and we drove to Target to get a few snacks and then drove over to Como Lake Pavilion and walked through the Pavilion... many old time memories there from when I was a kid and going out with my parents and walking out to Como Lake and walking around the lake! I had also taken my kids there before but today was a special day as I turned 65 and I picked up my girlfriend this morning and we got some snacks at Target and went over to walk part ways around the lake and came back to eat at The Pavilion ... and then walked across the street to the water fountain and talked to a lady with her yellow lab, it was so refreshing just to go and be in the moment! With turning 65 it has bothered me a little bit, so it was good to share my day with my friend and later go to our Bible study group with my husband, it was a nice day to celebrate my birthday!! Our Bible study woman leader brought me out a cupcake with a candle on which was so sweet... and we sat and watched some of the Vikings game and had a nice dinner at her house and we all brought...
Read moreThis is a great place! We come here once or twice a year for the MN State Band concerts, since my husband plays in the band. The covered open-air format is lovely, with the evening breezes blowing. I can even take my kids down to the water's edge just below the stage and they can watch for fish or put their toes in the water from the tiered concrete steps along the beach, or walk out on the pier. We can still hear the music just fine! Ice cream and other treats are available for purchase there as well, and you can rent canoes, kayaks, paddleboards or paddleboats by the hour. Restrooms are close by, inside the lakeside restaurant. Walking paths go all around the lake. This time, the 4 kids and I came early and rented a pedal cart for $32 and pedaled around the lake in about half an hour, at a leisurely pace. There are separate parallel trails for bikes and pedestrians, which is nice because the trails are busy in...
