July 3rd nightmare I wake up early and made breakfast as usual. My two boys and I eat and have a good time. My friend and I had made a plan two weeks ago to take kids out to play. We did look great place to play for kids. Our kid's age is from 2 to 5 years, so we decided to go to Como pool 1151 Wynne Ave, St Paul, MN 55108. We arrived there at 4:15 pm and paid the fee, and started play round. The area our kids were playing was from 2 inches to 4 inches. My kids are still learning how to swim, so I put on a life-saving jacket for bathing. The kids have fun, and me following around. My five years old was playing. I went to the other side of the playing to check my four years old and my five-year-old push accident by other people and flap and drowning! My friend's sister had her boy and girls out there and asked the life grads to help my boys, and she bags the lifeguard told my friend sister she can't help him because that's not the area. One kind gu realized that there was a problem and help my child up out of the water and heaving and gasping and then clinging to me and crying. My friends and I ran up to the lifeguard and said, "What's wrong with you, a child was drowning right in front of you, and someone jumped in to save him!" She said she couldn't go there, and someone who works that side makes me so crazy shout of her at her, and she turned her face. And we went; the supervisor but he side ''Mum, we are not a baby sitter here.'' did not even feel sorry the personal life and didn't evaluate my boy. I guess you have to be unresponsive to have them take things seriously. The supervisor voiced our concerns about the lack of action on their part and asked for their first names, and he told men he would handle it. He was very disrespectful and no sympathy. He was telling me to let it go. I found the entire incident to be...
Read moreOutside of Covid we’ve had memberships for the past 10+ years, but their service has not been able to rebound since Covid. They got rid of family memberships and now only sell individual ones. They are over priced and depending on when you buy a membership can be more expensive than bigger, better water parks just outside of St. Paul.
Over the last two years they’ve split memberships in two essentially offering an open swim and an “all access” membership, with the all access being a very expensive add on to the open swim. It really makes it feel like you are being nickel and dimmed. There’s also no benefit to buying a membership as there is no prepaid line or anything like that so you still have to wait if there’s ever a backup.
Day pricing feels similarly overpriced compared to the size of the water park. Twilight pricing can be great or can get you an hour to swim before closing.
You never quite know when Como Pool will be open or closed, when they will close early for the day, or when they will kick everyone out of the water 20 mins before close. It seems to be most up in the air on the hottest days of the summer when an open pool is needed.
Pre-Covid memberships were a great option, and if that wasn’t going to work for you, they had punch cards that were a nice alternative. They no longer exist.
Overall, they’ve had a tough time keeping staffing levels up since Covid and it shows. We figured last year was tough because they were trying to get the wrinkles out, but there were plenty of wrinkles this year too, some the same and some new. We love this pool but will be sticking with lakes or a different...
Read moreWhy didn't we discover this place sooner?! We went to the Como Park Regional Pool recently to celebrate my son's birthday and had an absolute blast. There is ample parking available and the pool is absolutely fabulous. Our son is 9 and our daughter is 13 and they spent virtually the entire day in the deep end of the pool jumping off the high dives, climbing the wall and dropping into the pool and riding on the zip line. The climbing wall and zip line are located directly over the pool, which the kids thought was amazing since they could drop off them straight into the pool. The lazy river ride was quite fun as well. When we weren't in the activity area, we were on the lazy river. There is a smaller pool with short slides for the younger kids as well, so there is something available for all ages. There is also a refreshment stand and large, spacious changing rooms with showers. One precaution, as it is a community pool it is prone to being busy on weekend and hot days. In addition, they do close off the main pool periodically for people to swim laps, so make sure you check the pool schedule so you don't show up when the lap area is closed! This is an absolutely fabulous place to spend a day or an afternoon in the summer with the family. They also have a party program so you can host group events and parties there as...
