Fail to show up for their own appointments repeatedly, give people the run around, lie, if this is how they treat people image how they treat the animals scattered whoknowswhere. It's quite unfortunate, but there are better charities who actually care and aren't a corporation churning out the illusion of care. I have never abandoned an animal in my life and I never will, the fact that you are more concerned with online reviews in a matter of hours more than caring for or facilitating care for animals - and apparently "can't find me" depite weeks of conversations demonstrates a level of disorganization and disregard that is exceptionally concerning. Shame on you all. Reexamine yourselves and your alleged commitments to caring for animals in need and then do/be better. I'm sorry that there are bad pet parents put there, I'm sorry that people think sending threatening texts is an appropriate methodology, I'm sorry you can't even determine who I am yet make the assumption that my experience is somehow in retaliation for a completely different situation and entirely without any evidence. I'm glad other people have had happy, successful experiences, be it here or elsewhere, but they are not mine and I am disappointed in "the oldest charity" or whatever you call yourselves. I haven't had a dog in over 20 years, I've never adopted a dog, I've never abandoned any living creature, I've never fostered a dog through anyone, ever. I've sponsored plenty of dogs because I know I don't have the time and space to provide one with the life they deserve at this point in my life. Please check yourself before you go flaunting unfounded accusations as truth, that's pretty hypocritical of someone claiming to be...
Read moreI fostered with Pet Haven, and I miss it. However, when I got my last foster, they told me to give her heartworm preventive right away. I work in veterinary med, so I asked if she'd been tested. I was told no, but it's okay, that the med team at Pet Haven said it was fine. I spoke with every veterinarian I work with, our chief of staff, another two veterinarians from another clinic, and the Heartworm Association and they all confirmed what I already know - test first, preventive when negative. I cannot condone with rescue when they put animals at risk in this way. It's scary.
Update: Pet Haven has responded basically saying that shelter pets are okay to give preventive before a test. This is still not okay and puts animals at risk. If a pet is heartworm positive and given prevention, it could kill them. And apparently Pet Haven is okay with this.
I left this organization because of this issue as well as some organizational problems. I've fostered with 3 different rescues and again, cannot...
Read moreI recently donated four old pet carriers i dusted off and cleaned up. The people there were kind and welcoming. I love the Pet Haven folks' ethic and i'm grateful for their faithful, hard work. Literally, organizations like this do not exist without a small percentage of motivated people with real and plentiful love in their hearts actually walking the walk. So if you care too but, like me, are for whatever reason unable to do much else right now, let's support incredible people like the Pet Haven org with all the resources we can. And there are lots of things they need donated, and or ways to volunteer (it's spelled out pretty well on their website) Just be sure to msg or call them first regarding what & how before you throw that big old dog house that sat on your late father's property all those years into a pickup and haul it over there.
*Sorry if...
