Crystal Bay Hotel — Attraction in Saint Petersburg

We stayed here along with several members of our car club. I really dig historic buildings and learning their history, so this was right up my alley. The staff reached out on the afternoon we were heading down just to let me know they'd sent all my check-in details via text and email (which, at first I thought was odd), and that whole process was so very helpful! I appreciated having the door codes in my text messages to refer back to all weekend. . Historic property, so there is only one elevator at the north end of the building. There is a self-serve convenience station set up right beside it with extra towels, soap, and a cooler with pre-bagged ice. The downstairs lobby area is very charming with chairs and sofas, an ice water and coffee station, and a small antique-inspired radio playing soft music. There is a dining room where buffet breakfast is served (nice touch), including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breads and fruits, as well as a waffle iron. The coffee isn't bad either! We didn't get to use the pool, but that whole area looks lovely. . The rooms are small, but that is expected with the age of the building and what its gone through during its existence. Our room was exceptionally clean, and included a microwave and a small fridge. Thankfully we brought a multi-plug strip (the ones you take on a cruise) for device charging as there was only one outlet accessible. The A/C was nice and cold. There's not any counter top space in the bathroom, but there was a small shelf above the sink to the right for your toothbrush, etc., and a small side table next to the shower. . And lastly, the bed. I wish I could give it a glowing review, but alas, I cannot. Our bed seemed to be an older spring mattress, so lots of bounce to it. My husband and I seemed to end up in the middle in the morning as if we had rolled down the sides of a V. The pillows were a bit on the lumpy side as well. Needless to say we didn't get good sleep. One other thing that we didn't find pleasant was the Glade plug-ins everywhere. The scent was a bit overwhelming and it seemed every outlet on the 2nd and 3rd hallway had one. These two things are the only reasons I didn't give a 5th star. . The staff were amazing- all of them. I loved learning the history of the building, and watching sunset from the front. We loved our stay here from start to finish. Staff is incredibly nice and super accommodating. Anything we needed or wanted, they were on it. Anyone you passed or saw always said a cheerful good morning with a smile. Room was spotless, spacious, and equipped with everything you need…the only downfall was lack of a coffee maker. As someone who likes their coffee right out of bed I found this a little inconvenient as I don’t wish to get dressed and travel all the way downstairs to fetch coffee before I’m truly awake. This wasn’t a complete dealbreaker tho so I bought some instant and made do. However the microwave takes forever to heat even a cup of water so keep that in mind if you choose to heat a cup of water or food. Mini fridge kept things ice cold. Beds were cozy and comfortable and I rested well despite being someone with chronic pain. While this is a wonderful historic hotel, beware the floors as they can be quite uneven in some areas so literally tread carefully. Our room overlooked the intersection but despite being close to traffic we weren’t at all disturbed by traffic noise, unlike a previous reviewer complained. The entire hotel was quiet and peaceful which is why we like b&b’s over chain hotels and this worked especially well for a first stay with an autistic child who has sensitivity to noise. We simply loved everything about our visit and plan to return again in the future. It’s a few minutes from the nearest beaches and the whole area has grocery stores and restaurants within a few miles so the location is convenient but not super busy. Parking is abundant across the street but we were able to park directly out front which was convenient for me as I cannot walk far so those with mobility issues have that option (even without a disabled plate or tag). Overall this place has everything from great location to great service, and super low rates for a comfortable and quiet stay while close enough to the beaches to make a great vacation without the crowds and noise of chain locations during the summer season. Crystal Bay Hotel is the perfect place to stay. Whether you are looking to get some quiet time away alone, wanting to take a virtual retreat (Like the meditation, yoga, and sound bath online retreat I participated in on my first stay. 🧘‍♀️) Or take the family somewhere historic and charming, perfectly located just across the bridge to the beaches, the nature parks and shell mounds on Park street and the shops on Central Avenue.

They are pet friendly so no need to board the pets.

Many families were there on our last stay. This place would be perfect for a romantic getaway as well.

Crystal bay is located near our favorite pet boutique (Bark Life), a Starbucks and local owned coffee shops, local owned restaurants and Earth Origins Healthfood store.

The breakfast at Crystal Bay was delicious and healthy and delivered to our door every morning.

We had contactless check in and check out.

We explored the beautiful herb and butterfly gardens around the property. (That really excited me as an herbalist, and edible landscaping lover like myself.

Enjoyed the veranda rocking chairs and sun setting right outside the room, the swimming pool was pretty amazing. Fresh towels at the pool doors.

Hot coffee or tea every morning in the room or by the fire place in lobby.

The beds are very comfy, with soft sheets, and pillow top mattress. The pull out sofa beds are perfect for the kids. The rooms are clean and spacious. The prices are afforable

All the staff we encountered were very friendly, kind and knowledgeable.

The energy here is amazing.

This will now be our local go to getaway and suggestion for visitors.

I will be looking into the Marilyn Monroe suite for our next visit.
