The history down in Ste Gen is so amazing. Allegedly going back to 1735. Hard to find that kind of history this side of the Mississippi. This house is actually one of the few vertical log style houses left in the US. I believe there are only 5 and 3 are in the Ste Gen area.
The tour is very quaint and community driven, which is awesome to see the local community take such pride in their history. The house itself is very nicely kept and has multiple displays. The best one being a scale model of Ste Gen during the post colonial era.
The tour does cost a few bucks, but if you go to the local tourism office in downtown Ste Gen you can get a passport for $15 a person and see six different sites around town. It's good for the calendar year and will save you a little cash if you visit...
