The Missouri Dinosaur Exhibit at the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center is a must-see for anyone with an interest in paleontology or natural history. The exhibit features a life-size replica of a Parrosaurus (Hypsibema) missouriense, a type of dinosaur that once roamed the area. This impressive display is a real highlight and provides a great photo opportunity.
The exhibit is not just visually impressive, but also highly educational. It provides a wealth of information about the dinosaur's habitat, diet, and behavior, as well as the process of fossil excavation and preservation. The information is presented in an engaging and accessible way, making it suitable for all ages.
One of the standout features of the exhibit is the collection of actual dinosaur fossils. These include bones, teeth, and even footprints, all of which have been found in Missouri. Seeing these artifacts up close really brings the prehistoric past to life.

Read moreThe new Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center is the up and coming place to visit in the area. It is huge compared to the tiny museum it started as in 1935. The new location is just steps from the original building, but holds so much more. The Hall of Giants dinosaur exhibit is the main attraction, especially with young dinosaur enthusiasts. These dinosaurs are BIG in so many ways!! You will need to look up to see those big guys! The building holds several other exhibits as well, including ancient civilizations, mining, and agriculture. There is also an exhibit area focused on Ste. Genevieve history too (my favorite!!). At the present time, many of the exhibits are only partially filled, as work continues to make the museum an awesome experience for young and old. Tickets are reasonable and include an additional complimentary ticket to revisit, once the museum displays are completely populated. This is only for a limited time, though, so make sure to visit soon. After visiting the museum, consider exploring the historic area, which has recently been named part of the US National Park system. Also, if you are considering visiting in the summer, the newly opened water park in town (not the downtown area though) will add more enjoyment and fun...
Read moreYou must visit the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center to see the dinosaurs that were discovered in Southeast Missouri! We went on July 5, 2022. It exceeded our expectations in every way! The exhibits are fascinating, filled with artifacts that are clearly explained and beautifully presented. We learned so much about prehistoric life in Missouri, as well as discoveries from more recent times. Did you know that there are people who find and excavate outhouse sites, uncovering items that were discarded or accidentally dropped long ago? Did you know that warm oceans covered Missouri millions of years ago, leaving behind a fossil record of sea creatures? Did you know that Civil War artifacts are being found all over our state? The staff are all friendly and engaging, and Guy loves to share what he learned (and is still learning) in his lifetime passion for paleontology. Look for him - the man in a blue cap - and feel free to...
