John Hay Center — Attraction in Salem

If you've never been there at all, check out the local museum. Pretty awesome asset for this community. Also, the pioneer village is well preserved. You could spend a quiet afternoon exploring the grounds. I was there for Old Settlers Day. Lots of booths. A few interesting ones. My wife was more interested than I was. Some good food. Missed out on ham and beans at the museum. Almost missed Burdens Within, an Indianapolis based grunge group who sounded great. Free entry to everything. The John Hay Center is an unbelievable collection of authentic, historical artifacts, most relating to Salem Indiana. It is amazingly well done and professionally presented. I would highly recommend this historical center and Pioneer Village for all ages and all interests, not just Washington County residents. It has something for everyone! A wonderful discovery!...
