The establishment earns 5 stars, the other patrons, 0 stars. My daughter has autism and was excited to see marcel the shell. We chose a smaller theater because larger theaters sometimes give her anxiety. There is a sign upon entering saying face masks are encouraged, but not required. We showed our QR code, got a popcorn and soda and went to find our seats. Everyone but 1 gentlemen and a small child in the tiny theater were wearing a mask. We sat down, quietly waiting for the movie to start and others around us acted as if we came in announcing that we were infected with the black plague. A customer in our row even ASKED us if we had a facial covering to wear thru the movie!! I was quite taken aback and my daughter was extremely upset at strangers talking to us, not to mention we didnt prepare for wearing or talking about wearing a mask and it almost sent her into a meltdown [these can happen to children with autism when they're extremely uncomfortable or the scenerio around them changes without warning.] We probably won't be back, but only because of the other guests insisting we mask up for something optional. We had a great experience with the staff and the movie was adorable, but please get your guests in check with not policing other customers masks when staff and signage clearly state...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about this place. I just moved to the area about 6 months ago and was pleasantly surprised to find out that we had an arthouse theater in town. Thank god I don't have to drive all the way to Portland or even Corvallis to see an indie movie!
Then I actually went to a movie there and was so incredibly impressed. Unlike some indie theaters which are kind of, uh...less nice? This place is, like, a real legit theater. Stadium seating, really big screens, surround sound. This isn't some shabby little place, this is a legit theater. Great place to see a movie, I go there almost every weekend, sometimes twice. I've never had anything less than a good experience.
Also, not for nothing, but they have the best popcorn of any of the theaters around. And the staff is super friendly. Can't recommend this...

I like that it’s never super packed, and they show more adult-themed movies so there aren’t a bunch of kids running around or talking during the movies, which is great. Their popcorn is AMAZING, and they offer nutritional yeast as a topping, which gives a sort of ‘cheese corn’ vibes, but it’s vegan so anyone can eat it (so awesome!). They have a good assortment of sweets including locally made vegan chocolates from the Chomp chocolate factory here in Salem. The staff is super friendly and kind, I always feel like I’m visiting friends when I’m interacting...
