A Relaxing Escape - Jordan Park
Jordan Park is a charming, peaceful spot in the city, offering plenty of green space and a welcoming atmosphere. One of its standout features is the beautiful International Peace Gardens, which celebrates global cultures through a series of garden designs dedicated to various countries. Each section provides a unique glimpse into the culture it represents, making it a fun and educational experience as you walk through. The gardens are particularly impressive in the spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom.
The park also has a nice variety of amenities, including a playground, sports fields, and picnic areas, which makes it a popular spot for families and groups. The walking paths are well-paved and easy to navigate, allowing for a relaxing stroll, jog, or bike ride. With the Jordan River running alongside the park, it’s common to see local wildlife, adding to the serene atmosphere.
While Jordan Park has much to offer, it could use a bit more upkeep in some areas, especially around the playground and bathrooms. Despite this, it’s a lovely destination for those looking to spend a few peaceful hours outdoors. Overall, Jordan Park is a great place to unwind, enjoy nature, and explore a bit of cultural history in the heart...
Read moreI went to the park to visit the International Peace Gardens. I had never been there before and was looking forward to it. After stolling in the park for a few yards, it appeared to me that it was clean and the lawn had been recently mowed. However, as you enter the garden, there are 3 flag poles, but only one flag was displayed, the US flag. Further along, much of the structures showed need of repairs. It looked like most of this beautiful garden was overgrown, unattended, and neglected. It was disappointing to see such a jewel in that disarray. There are only 2 International Peace Gardens in the USA! I didn't expect much bloom at this time of year, but overgrown trees, weeds, and broken buildings didn't happen overnight. Obviously, it needs some tender loving care. Whether it is the responsibility of each country represented, volunteers work, the city.... I hope something will soon be done so it will regain the beautiful Gardens that they have the...
Read moreI complained a couple years ago about this park's dog park. There was just a sign in the middle of a field and no further indication that there was an off leash park, and I had more than one encounter with rude park goers mad at me for my dog being off leash at that spot. I complained to the parks dept, and they removed the sign completely for over a year.
The second incantation of the dog park was a SMALL fenced in area, too small to play fetch in. They made it near the same spot as it was originally, but it was no bigger than the house lot of the house they tore down a year earlier.
BUT they've finally got it right this time. They extended the dog park to a much bigger fenced in area. Now you can play fetch without throwing the ball over the fence or getting in the way of another dog/owner. Sit on a bench and let your dogs run around the toys they installed. Its shady and grassy. Water fountain and doggy bags were added....
