H-E-B — Attraction in San Antonio

Nice HEB in Windcreast, TX. One of the older stores but if I didn't live here, I couldn't even imagine how long it has been it it's location. Very clean, well arranged, excellent selection of everything from dairy products, fresh fruits and veggies, great meats and a large array of garb and go meals for any taste. No waiting in line even though it was busy. Partners are pleasant, accommodating and the smiles reflect how much HEB appreciates them.

12/6/23. I went there today to buy salt for my water conditioner. My local HEB was out of what I use. I couldn't find it, so I asked a young lady associate who told me I had walked right past it, that it was at the front of the store. I returned but did not see the usual stacks of 25 and 40 pound bags of salt. I asked a young male associate standing there but he didn't know what a water conditioner was. I explained it to him and that the salt was needed to make it work properly. He told me it was on aisle 18. He was correct. Aisle 18. had salt. Table salt in small cans. I gave up and drove to the Austin Highway HEB and found the 25 pound bags of salt I needed. Only one small problem. I am 82 years old, and it is difficult for me to pick up 25 pounds of dead weight. I managed two bags, but the third one was beyond my strength. I paid for them, grateful to have found them. Still had to get them from the cart into the Trunk of my car. I am delighted to say that I managed that, too. No.one was at fault here. It is simply that everything in every store is not located in the same places. And there are a lot of people in the stores thisbtime of the year. One white haired woman struggling to lift bags of salt in an area outside the interior of the store isn't being ignored, just...

If I could give this HEB a -0 I would. Let me tell y'all why..... I'm checking out with my baby and husband. The bagger name Eric just started a conversation and walked off. Stopped helping bag my groceries. My husband after getting off a long day of work. Ask the check out guy " was he not the bag boy?" He said yes he was. And not even the check out guy wanted to do his job. So we went ahead a did there job for them. Sad to say this but this is why I enjoy Walmart. Because Walmart always ask me if I need help outside and they do their jobs with bagging my groceries as well as putting the BAGS IN MY CART. Come on HEB get ur works together. If your workers see a mother and father w a baby bagging their own groceries you are dropping the ball. I will gladly pay more at Walmart so the bag boy will do their job. Ok listen I love HEB. My mom worked at HEB city kitchen b4 moving to Hawaii.... So I love HEB..... But come on HEB step ur game up. I have a 2 year old a freaking toddler. I should NOT bag my groceries.... I will not go to Walmart because they sale old ass meat and change stickers.... I trust HEB. But please management step up and get these workers off the phone with the ear pods in. Work ur worker. Do have me ask. Because if I have to bag another bag I am calling a GM for...

All these stars are mainly for the pharmacy! I switched over from Walmart after years of them either not applying or applying my coupons incorrectly, never having my prescription ready, amoung other issues. Here though? I have had NONE. I was so impressed the first time I picked up a prescription because as private pay, they noticed I had no insurance and she applied a coupon for me to bring down the cost. They have been a pleasure!

As for the store itself, I love having it here but it has a few layout issues which I am sure are due to it being an older store. The lines always back up down into the main aisle and other aisles when they get busy. The parking lot is a bit of a disaster, as is the fact they only have one main entrance and exit because of the size of the store.

Still, they always have great produce and fruits that I never see at other stores! The employees have been so friendly and I greatly appreciate the lady at check out letting me know about the HEB app because for some reason, I had never considered they likely had one. Overall, a great place to shop and I would recommend it despite the few flaws that come from the building and layout itself and not from the service...
