El Burrito Tapatio - Walzem — Restaurant in San Antonio

If I could give this restaurant a zero star I would. I literally just had the worst customer service experience over the phone ever! Yesterday I had ordered a #17 flautas plate with two extra flautas. When I had received my order and not opening it until I got home! The flautas were extremely hard to the point it could not be chewed! I called in the morning due to me having to rush and get my food last night I had to wait to call in the morning. I called, and due to a lot of the employees not being able to speak English, I had to wait until I spoke to someone that did, a manager that was a male got on the line did not speak English, he got off the line, but I could hear him laughing in the background, but I couldn’t make out what he said. Unfortunately, when I did get to speak to someone that spoke English it was a horrible experience. The woman, got on the phone, and I explained to her what the issue was, and I didn’t ask for a refund or anything in that moment of speaking with her, I simply was just telling her my experience. Instantly, she responded so rude, I was so taken aback that I thought I was having an out of body experience that this couldn’t be how employees spoke to someone over a mistake they made! She told me, “If you had an issue with the order you could’ve just drove back up here.” in a very condescending tone. I explained to her I don’t have a car to drive back up there and that was a horrible response she doesn’t know if I’m disabled or if someone picked up the order for me or anything. Oh, but it didn’t stop there! After telling her I did not have transportation she still kept telling me in a I don’t know what to tell you way that if I had a problem with my order how I could’ve came up there etc, never did she do like other restaurants and even ask about a receipt or to come back up there and bring my receipt anything! I was shocked, immediately I asked for a manager she put me on hold and hung up. I called back several times and asked for a manager repeatedly after hearing my voice they hung up. I said I would be reporting this and someone told me, “Go head and report it.” Called back again asking for manger they hung up again.! Eventually, I stopped calling, but it was a horrible experience! I only called to tell them my issue! I never even asked for anything, and got treated this way this...

We decided to have breakfast this morning at this place. It is located off of Walzem Road near midcrown. I will note it's my first time visiting the restaurant, and they gave me a chance to practice my Spanish - thank you staff.

We arrived just before 11am, and we're seated inside just off the outdoor seating area. Our server quickly greeted us, provided menus, and gave us a few minutes to review the menu. She returned and took our order. The food was ready within minutes and brought to our table.

The food was good, tasty, and the tortillas warm. They had two hot sauces - one red - I'll say it's mild, and one green - a little hotter. Both had a nice flavor.

I ordered country sausage & egg and chorizo & egg - see picture - tacos. I also took some pictures of the inside and one outside.

This restaurant has definitely intrigued my interest, and I will be back to try other dishes and update this review accordingly.

In the meantime, I hope you do visit as the staff and cooks are good, hard-working people, and the food worthy of a visit.

I used to come here often and loved everything about this place. I decided to come back and bring family. Ownership changed and you can tell based on the environment and food. I appreciate that it wasn’t as salty as before however, the food is flavorless. The chips and sauce had no flavor and the sauce was very watery. I received my Papas Locos and because was a new item on the menu. The cheese was runny as if was more water than cheese. My fries were soggy wet ten minutes after receiving my food. With that being said, the chicken I had on top of entree was great but the soggy fries and runny cheese didn’t allow me to enjoy my meal. I’d come again because I’ve had more positive experiences than negative. I miss the family fun environment where the employees were happy and friendly.
