Perspire Sauna Studio — Attraction in San Antonio

UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES.

My husband and I booked a couples sauna here last weekend. We had both been to Perspire before and were strongly considering joining as Unlimited Members. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly associate. We asked how much our dual session would be. The friendly associate was very sweet and, without request, applied a "Free Visit" coupon to our session so we only paid for a single session rather than two. We really appreciated the good-faith gesture by the buiness (or so we thought), and had a wonderful couples session in the sauna.

Upon exiting the sauna, however, we were met by a different associate - Arianna. At first she was friendly and inquired how out session went. However, she quickly became suspicious of us. She asked what our names are, and we told her. She proceeded to tell us that only one of our names was on the reservation. It was clear she had concluded I snuck in behind my husband for a freebie sauna session. We explained to her that a "Free Visit" coupon had been applied to the visit by the previous associate, and she said we could go. The terrific experience my husband and I initially had, prompting us to want to purchase memberships, vanished upon being treated as a couple of teenagers who snuck into the spa.

To make matters worse, about 30 minutes after leaving, I received a text message from Arianna. The text message stated that I had already used my first-time "Free Visit" coupon. Therefore, she would be charging me for an additional $50 session. I explained to her AGAIN the situation, and that I would not accept the charge as this was not what the business quoted us upon arrival. Several hours later, she wrote back saying she would honor the discount but reprimanded me to not use a "Free Visit" coupon again. (Apparently, it will now be my job to patrol their employees who offer discounts.) Arianna offered no apology for the accusatory nature of our interaction, her failure to consult with other employees before confronting well-meaning guests, or any assurance that their employees would be trained better moving forward so this does not happen again.

It is disappointing that Perspire is willing to throw away thousands of dollars in opportunity cost in order to chase $50 out the door -- especially when their own team granted the discount without request. We genuinely enjoyed our interaction with the first associate, and would have otherwise left with a very high regard for Perspire. It is even more disappointing that the business attempted to ILLEGALLY charge customers after the service was rendered at an agreed-upon rate. (Arianna: The customer you attempted to charge is, in fact, an attorney by trade.) This company needs to educate its employees on how the short term quest to collect a dollar destroys their reputation in the eyes of potential clients. Be wary...

I've never been to a sauna before. For my first time, this was such a great experience. Maizy was amazing in walking me through how everything works and then left me to start. The sauna room smelled really nice and clean. I chose to not watch anything on the TV, which just played soothing music. I will say, even though Maizy suggested I could bring in my phone to help time my 40 mins, you'd think that the phone would become super hot and not work. Surprisingly, yes my phone did become hot but it still worked surprisingly well. Although, there is a little compartment that you can store your phone in which I didn't try. After my 40 mins, I stepped out and pressed the eucalyptus towel to my face and it was the most amazing feeling and smelled awesome. After dumping my towels into the bins, Maizy took me to the front to get my preferences. I was seriously impressed with everything and how smooth everything was. I also love that they didn't push me to finish my session quickly. They let me take my time to slowly decompress during and after the session. As I was leaving, I caught my reflection in my car window. I don't know if it was my mind playing games or the actual session , but my skin looked much better than before I went in. Additionally, I would make sure that you drink more water than you think you would need. I came out feeling amazing and didn't think I needed more water, but then later the dehydration hit me.
