As an art collector I have the good fortune of knowing an art conservator (those are the rare specialists that keep art alive for future generations). Many of the outdoor sculptures in my city are actually conserved by my friend. So when I had a problem with an iron sculpture of an eagle that I’d bought (it had a broken wing and ALOT of rust from the neglect of the previous owner), I asked my art conservator friend and he immediately recommended WANDERLUST IRONWORKS. As my friend said: “if it’s metal Simon can fix it and fix it right” Not only was the eagle repaired but it was done in a manner that truly turned the piece into the great work of art that I knew was buried below all the rust and terrible damage it had suffered through time and neglect. As an added bonus Simon and his staff added some brilliant artistic touches to the piece that could only have come from folks that are not only masters with metal but also color, composition and design. These are artisans that take great pride in their work. The kind of artisans that don’t just finish a piece “well enough” for a client but keep working till it meets THEIR own rigid standards of perfection. Indeed, the finished product was so far beyond my expectations that when I saw it I literally took twenty minutes of THEIR TIME praising the level of care and artistry they’d put into my piece. It was only after I left their business that I realized how much of their time I must have consumed with my praise (lucky me that they are patient people). Even more welcome still was the exceptionally fair price they charged for the work. Months later I ran into another issue (this time a metal sculpture damaged in shipping) and again it was WANDERLUST IRONWORKS to the rescue. I highly recommend this business. My company that I work for was seeking a Fabricator/Welder to repair some frame work on a 50k+ Medical Equipment we received that was damaged. I handle our procurement so I called several places around San Antonio and was either the company I called didn't call back after I left a message or told me they couldn't do the job that was needed. When I called Wanderlust, I spoke with a gentleman named Simon, we discussed the repair that was needed and I send some pictures over. With no hesitation, not only did Simon tell me that he could do it he also gave me a brief explanation of how he was going to do it! Simon and Kyle came over today 06/27/18 and got the job done!
