Bayseas Catfish House #5 — Restaurant in San Antonio

Walking in the door I was greeted immediately by someone who seemed to really appreciate that I had selected them for lunch.

The waitress was bubbly, kind and helpful guiding me through the many options. Although I had my heart set on catfish walking in the door I quickly changed my mind to try their smothered pork chops special which included two sides and a half order of corn bread. Now I have been known to eat a two pound hamburger from time to time and I was leary that my order might not be enough food to satisfy my bottomless stomach and deep hunger.

When the food came out it turned out to be TWO thick pork chops along with all the other stuff. Portion control get the heck out of the way I think they must have thought!

Geez the food was flavorful. From the chops to the simmered cabbage and the red beans with rice and don’t forget that 1/2 order of corn bread. All together it may have been enough to feed two people as even I didn’t finish it all.

Paying the bill (about $18) it was way more than I had budgeted for lunch but wow…it was worth...

Visit...march 3, 2022. I am from Dallas and I'm here because my daughter is having a medical procedure. I wanted some catfish and found this place. I ordered the 5pc catfish filet and a 5pc order of shrimp. 1 came with fries the other with hush puppies. First...the filets were cut in half (breast and tail piece)and that counted as 2😮. They were batter dipped with no seasonings. I do not believe it was catfish..tasted more like swai or cod. Same with the shrimp which were very small. The fries and pups were good, though. Didn't have any customer service issues. The young lady even brought my food out 2 the car. I paid roughly about $25 which the quantity of the food did not reflect. Would I visit again? Probably not.
