Chollas Lake Park Gloria's Mesa — Attraction in San Diego

The playground has some nice features and very nice views of the lake.

The playground equipment itself looks new but some areas already are in need of repair. There were no swings and the foam around the structures was chipping away, and ending up in the sand pitts.

The playground was also overcrowded during my visit, which made it difficult for my child to enjoy. There were a lot of older kids hogging the equipment, and some even appeared to be engaging in risky behavior, which made me feel uneasy.

In addition, the park was not well-maintained. The trash cans were overflowing, and there was litter scattered throughout the area. There were no restrooms. While it has potential to be a nice place for kids to play, the lack of maintenance and upkeep made it a less than...

Playground: Slightly dated, two main structures for big and little kids. The flooring is rubber, sand, and dirt. There was lots of shade but also lots of sun, with plenty of seating throughout the playground. There is useless cardio exercise equipment next to the playground, as well as benches and grills. Bathrooms: Port o potty next to the playground. I’m unsure if there is a better bathroom nearby. Parking: Right next to the park in a free parking lot. Location: Next to a lake and a busy street. There is a slight view of the ocean and downtown from the parking lot. The park is next to Lake Cholla and the native plants are gorgeous. A hidden gem. Love the lake and birds. Great place for hiking. One of the rangers posts "Chollas Lake Wildlife Walk with a Ranger" on Meetup. I attended and learned a lot about the ducks and birds. He also pointed out the amazing carvings that artists have done to tree stumps that make them a feature. I don't fish, but I saw a couple of kids get two 15+ inch catfish in less...
