I made a visit to this beach along with my brother for a late afternoon session of volleyball. There are a number of nets with roped lines, which make this a good place for a volleyball match. However, I would not suggest swimming here, particularly not for anybody who is a weak swimmer or for bringing children. I was really quite shocked at how rough the surf was. I’m not sure what the topography is at this specific beach that creates such violent surf but it’s not a friendly place for swimming. Nor is it a friendly place for laying out and sun tanning. Highly recommended for somebody who’s trying to play beach volleyball because they have many stanchions, but if that’s not your thing then this might not be the place for you. Well, I should also say there are plenty of spaces for street parking which does make this easy to access.
if you want to get absolutely pitted this is the place. make sure to spend your time in the water on busy days because the beach attracts your fair share of controlled substances and underage usage. also the valley boys show up and nothing worse than a bunch of kooks crowding the shore. luckily only experienced people ride the big waves. enter at your own risk. kooks go home
Very beautiful place to visit if you plan your short stay/vacation in La Jolla. It is a wonderful place for surfers, swimmers, sightseeing, tourists and much more. Watching 180 degree sunset at the end of the day is gorgeous is a gift to wrap up your day. However, the parking can be somewhat problematic at certain times of a day, so plan your time wisely
Clear water that drops off quickly with strong waves. Beach has about 10 yrds wide by 300 yrds long of clean sand with a steep slope to the water. No restrooms, firepits, or parking. Street parking is free but limited. Two volleyball nets and a lifeguard. Great for getting a tan and a quick dip.
Great beach, no lifeguard.. 2 volleyball courts which might be private swim in and out is easy, upto 20 ft deep about 30m in.. no drop, gradual decent on shore until 1st 8-10ft rock wall... then a little kelp forest, and second rock wall 15-20ft (i think)
