4.5 out of 5
I really wanted to give this place a full 5 stars. I'll start with why I couldn't and end with why you should come here anyway.
Cons: I ordered from here twice, and both times I got the pesto chicken sandwich (YUM) with different sides. The first time I ordered the garlic Parmesan fries and I got so many! I was very happy with the portion. The second time I got grilled veggies for an extra $3 and while they were delicious, I got three cauliflower heads and four large slices of squash. After seeing the fries portion AND paying an extra $3 for grilled veggies, I was disappointed in the portion size. See photos.
Also, I'm a ranch girl, and their homemade ranch is dying for more herbs.
Pros: The food was great (except the ranch). I tried the brussel sprouts, chicken sandwich, Mac salad, Verde Cesar side salad, PB&J cheesecake, and the garlic Parmesan fries. I was very happy with the taste of all of the things I got!
The service was great. They were fairly busy but both times I was there the food came out quickly and the people behind the counter were patient, friendly and helpful. During the dinner rush the server knew many people's names and showed they had a lot of regulars.
Inside it's cozy and hard to feel out of place, even for someone like me just passing through. It's small inside but they have an outdoor seating area with pretty lights at night. I very much recommend this restaurant and am happy to give...
Read moreMe and 2 others ordered the "Just a Forkin' Burger," the "Pork Fried Rice" and the Notorious P.I.G." I ordered the burger and it wasn't what I expected. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it was a little too pink in the middle. I have to say that, without ketchup, the flavors were a little muddled. I feel like it needed some seasoning or something to freshen it up, as the tomatoes weren't able to. The Pork Fried Rice was kinda mushy. But, when we told the lady who took our order, she said it wasn't supposed to be like that, so maybe it was just our experience. The pork in the fried rice was not bad though. The Notorious P.I.G though, was pretty good. I think all it needed was a little bbq sauce and it was pretty alright. The fries had nice flavor but they were too hard on the outside in my opinion. One thing that I thought The Promiscuos Fork did pretty well was it's service. Overall, I don't think I would return, but if I did I would order something else. Keep in mind that this is just my experience and that it may have just been today that all these...
Read moreLove the name, love the food, staff was great! We stayed in La Jolla 2 nights, and ended up eating dinner here both nights. The second night we wanted to try other businesses nearby, but after a terrible experience at The Shack across the street, we said “Let’s just go to the Fork again because it was so good.” It did not disappoint. The decor and vibe are good, but it is a teeny tiny spot with limited seating. They make good use of outdoor seating, but it’s really just a couple of dressed up parking spots with bar tables lol. Not their fault, I appreciate that they make accommodations for more patrons, it is what it is but for me, if the food is great, I can overlook the other stuff. Over the 2 nights we had the “June Gloom” burger, the “Ring of Fire” burger, the “Best Forkin’ Chicken Sandwich,” garlic fries, macaroni salad, and draft beers. All were delicious, and I could see myself eating there if we go to La Jolla again. In fact, I’d be willing to drive the 1.5 hours from my house just to get the “June Gloom” burger, it’s one of the best burgers...
