The incompetence of the medical assistants is unbelievable at Scripps OB-GYN! Tried to get a prescription authorization on a medication that I have taken for 7 years. I had problems with a different one, generic, that the nurse assistant gave me samples of. I complained of bleeding on the generic so I requested authorization of the Brand name drug. Nancy, the medical assistant, who read through my chart said she didn't see any documentation of this problem. Nancy is after all, NOT a doctor OR even a nurse. Mind you, in my chart, I did have diagnostic tests done for the bleeding and nothing was wrong, however, after using the generic, again, I started bleeding. Prior to the run around with Nancy. My insurance called Scripps OB-GYN to get them to put through the authorization request and documented that they spoke to an Eva (another medical assistant). When I followed up with Scripps OB-GYN, Nancy told me that Eva had no recollection of the call, therefore, didn't put through the request. Really?!! Then how would the insurance company have her name as the one they spoke to?? I realize that medical assistants only make between $10-12 an hour but really people!! Do your job, take pride in your work! They always say the attitude of an office trickles down from management. I wonder if Scripps even cares how this office...
Read moreScripps OB-GYN La Jolla treats you like a business transaction not a healthcare patient. They sent me for all kinds of tests that I insisted weren’t necessary(it would literally be impossible for me to test positive for most of these AND my primary care doctor already did some of them) and Dr. Ruymann neglected to listen to me and my specific issue and said my original results were probably wrong. No surprise, I was 100% correct about the tests and out hundreds of dollars with no proper diagnosis. When I followed up with them, they had no appointments for months and the nurse Kristy(?) told me that they highly recommend that get a second opinion because they usually just see people for routine treatment. I was baffled for many reasons but they all act in this manner because the doctor wouldn’t even consider that my problem could be something that she doesn’t see on a weekly basis. Dr. Ruymann ordered her usual tests and shooed me out the door. Transactional. No follow up. Apparently they don’t consult with colleagues to find you the best treatment. This really has been a nightmare experience and I would highly recommend finding a smaller practice that has time to care...
Read moreThroughout the COVID-19 pandemic I have taken the virus very seriously, taken all precautions, worn a mask everywhere and followed every rule/procedure that hospitals and other places have put into place. I have also respected the no visitor policies throughout my pregnancy. Now that I have given birth I went back for my postpartum check up, an essential appointment especially due to the fact I had a c section. I understand possibly not bringing a child that is able to run around or occupy a lobby chair, but I can’t understand why a newborn is considered a visitor? My family is a military transplant to San Diego and we do not have family to help us care for our baby. My husband also doesn’t have the luxury of calling out of work or working from home due to the virus. Childcare is also not available due to the virus. I arrived for my appointment with my 5 week baby and was turned away - after being asked my name and reason for visit - because of the no visitor policy. I think this needs to be made clear to all of your patients that newborns are apparently considered “visitors” and will not be allowed at mothers...
