I have been with UCSD for some time and although I love my doctors, the billing department for UCSD is an absolute joke. I had a procedure done in January and I had called the billing department to arrange paying my bill. The first person I spoke to mentioned that if I paid my Bill in full, they could give me 30% (we talked through the balance and what the 30% off would look like) . I have the call records on my phone Bill, I have notes from the call in a notebook as well.
I specifically asked if I needed to do anything to make sure that when I called back I could get the 30% off. She said stated I didn’t have to do anything except call and say you wanted to pay in full for 30% off.
I should have known better and probably should have recorded the conversation because of course when I called back they wouldn’t honor the 30%. The woman I spoke to on the phone said that they could only offer me 20% off and have no notes about me calling.
This is extremely frustrating, I explained everything written above and she said the best they could do is 25% off. It took 3 calls to even get them to now agree to 25%
I’m severely disappointed that they wouldn’t honor the first conversation that we had. I wouldn’t have written that number down if that wasn’t the number they gave me. I didn’t pull that number from the sky, that IS a discount they give people if your bill is a “specific dollar amount”. Even though the first person stated 30% with my specific bill amount.
I paid my bill in full with the 25% off because I figured that was the best they would do to help me. However, I will never be going back to UCSD and will be completely changing my doctors and moving my whole family to a new health group.
My experience with my procedure also wasn’t great. The bathrooms at this hospital were covered in urine on the floor and the seat and they sent me in there to give a sample with just socks on. Very unsanitary and unprofessional. The doctors and nurses were very nice, but that is the only positive I can give UCSD. For the facade they put up and the prices they are charging, they are not caring for their patients once the procedures are complete or your diagnosis is given.
And the difference between 20% - 30% off is pretty significant for a large medical Bill. With everything going on with covid, you think they would be more understanding and honor what one of their...
Read moreUCSD Medical Group is the worse medical group system in patient care. Despite having multiple chronic issues, it took 3 months to get an appointment with a primary doctor and then she left UCSD Medical Group so my appointment was cancelled and I had to wait another month and half to see a different doctor with an attitude. To make matters worse new patients Only have access to doctors that are fresh out of school or only with couple years of experience and most of them are DO, not MD! When there was a referral made to a Neuraligist, scheduling dept. would only let me have an appointment 3 1/2 out because I was once again considered a new patient although my primary physician had requested the referral as urgent! UCSD medical group system is a disaster! UCSD MEDICAL GROUP DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PATIENT’S MEDICAL NEEDS REGARDLESS OF HOW SERIOUS THE CONDITIONS MAY BE, IT IS DESIGNED TO TRAIN THEIR NEW DOCTORS AND MAKE...
Read moreThe UCSD Medical Group La Jolla office is absolutely the WORST medical office in the county with the phone operators treat incoming patient calls. I joined this HMO because I have been seeing specialists at nearly all the hospitals at UCSD Health Services. I have always been treated with professionalism and respect by friendly and patient receptionists. However, the phone operators at the HMO are so rude and unprofessional, especially this one IRIS, who could easily be Hades - the dog guarding the gates of hell in...
