Produce & meat prices & quality very good, save for some produce being much too old/unpopular? or improperly stored, like bagged up ginger so the moisture makes it rot real fast as is. Meat extremely fresh, lots butchered same morning. Other places of comparably good quality and good price would be Costco normal & business, ALDI's (far), and sometimes 99 ranch (far) or Minh Huong (few minutes south). Somehow 99 ranch has the best ramen variety prices by 1-3$ unless sales --edit 99 ranch has jacked prices.
Parking is very bad when there's just a decent amount of people. The shape of the lot, and terribly inattentive drivers and people walking around. Can rarely find adjacent street parking on the painted wall of chinese bakery, 15 or 30 minute green lanes 8am-6pm. Better to go when there's less people, like after 2pm. Tip: the worn out handicap looking spot actually isn't handicap. Only the spot with the handicap sign is handicap.
Surprised at the very up to date payment terminal. Uses the much cheaper debit card network routing saving themselves money & charging no debit card surcharges (no credit accepted--correction, owner says they do, definitely mis-remembered a no credit sign. no credit surcharge). Terminals are compatible with EMV NFC and full mobile wallet CDCVM support so no pin use necessary if using debit on mobile wallet, saving time & keeping card info safer. Though the NFC reader is a bit slow to read or weak range, takes a few seconds and maybe some position adjustment. However checkout isn't fast as many use 100$ bills and very slowly, only after everything is scanned, do they start to slowly take their purse/bag, wallet, then take out cash. And of course lots of change needs to be tendered. Or slow EBT/SNAP usage --Contactless readers on registers 1 (next to vegetables) & 3 (next to sugary drink mix powder in big middle aisle) have been broken for months. Normally the 1st of 4 top status lights is always lit when...
Read moreHonestly, this is one of the worst stores I've ever been to in San Diego. The worst thing is the customer service. The cashiers are nasty and unfriendly. They rarely greet customers or thank them for their business. I once brought my own shopping bags but the rude ignorant cashier didn't bother to bag my stuff and I had to bag them myself. That is stupid and should never happen to any customer. We don't live in a remote isolated island or in another remote planet to treat customers like that. We shop at your store to support you, to put money in your nasty greedy pockets to make you fat!
Another problem with this store is the cleanliness and organization. The floors are dirty and the aisles are very messy and disorganized. Sometimes it gets so crowded that you can't move your cart.
And the parking lot is another horrible story. Sometimes it gets so packed with cars and big trucks that you can't find a spot to...
Read moreThis is a small family owned Oriental wholesale store. It is open to the public BUT transaction is either Cash or Debit cards only...NO credit cards. Parking is too small so shop in middle of a the day, plenty of availbale street parking though. Awhile back i submitted a review of the excellent Planet Coffee, this is one of the VERY FEW places in San Diego you can buy this coffee. Pork, beef, fish, salted fish and pretty much MOST oriental spices and sauces are available here. Most local family owned small oriental eatery get their supplies from this store because you get discounted priced when you buy in whole boxes. If you are used to shopping in big places with a lot of wiggling room, this is not your market. But if you like paying less in lieu of comfort, this is your market place. Be prepared to be amazed at the selections of oriental spices and beverage. Bags of rice is one of the cheapest here in all...
